We reached here around 4-5pm and most of the dishes were sold out. My aunt insisted that I have to eat at Cappun Magru when I visit Manarola so we decided to make another trip here the following day. After dining at this lovely restaurant, I understood why she recommended us to this place and likewise, I had reasons to recommend this to my friends when they visit Cinque Terre (Manarola).
We ordered Corniglia (octopus sandwich) and their speciality Cappun Magru (a mix of seafood), both were very delicious but Cappun Magru blew our mind the most. This is probably the best and freshest seafood I have ever tasted! I had seafood in other parts of Italy but nothing came close to this. I sounded like I’m over exaggerating, but heck, it’s been more than 3 weeks I left the restaurant and I’m still thinking about it.
Service was excellent, the crew were very kind and polite.
It’s a little walk up here but to exchange a bit of energy for good food, it will make you feel more satisfied after a meal. In my opinion, the price was very reasonable as compared to other places I have eaten. So, another reason to feel happy and satisfied after my meal :) My wife and I spent 3 weeks in Italy and at the end of trip, we agreed that we had our best meal here during our...

Food: Homemade chocolate cake - delectably delicate with every bite. Two americanos - perfect for a wet & chaotic morning, rich & roasted well. Genoan fruit cake - more biscuit like, not super fruity, paired well with coffees. Homemade focaccia - oily & crisp crust with fresh tomatoes & mozzarella.
People: the ladies running this quaint hillside cafe were under the pump (as it was a wild & stormy morning). Table service was sparse so we ordered up at the counter. Service was great later on when we wanted to order the additional snacks. They weren’t able to do to the paninis because they were so busy.
Place: up the hill & out of site for most tourists, this place is a 5-10 min walk to the right of the station (as you come out of the tunnel). As there are no steps, access isn’t a huge issue (besides the curved, steep hill). Offerings were a plenty. Although, as stated earlier on, they were quite busy and couldn’t do the paninis.
I can see how this place would be a great spot for lunch given a different weather & timing situation (arrive @ midday). The staff did a great job accommodating everyone’s needs during the wild, & wet weather! Definitely visit for a lazy midday snack...
Read moreMy B&B had listed Cappun Magru in their recommendations, and I'm so glad I went by it. It's a family run lunch spot (no reservations, so be prepared to wait a little) and they also do wine flights with regional products.
There's a couple of savory local dishes which vary each day, depending on what's gotten at the market earlier in the day. When I was talked through them (4 options on the day I went) I felt all were very local, including the Cappun Magru, after which the restaurant takes its name. In addition they have 5 freshly made seafood sandwiches (€10 apiece, one named after each of the 5 towns of Cinque Terre) -- I went for the Corgnilia, which had octopus; can only recommend. And unless you're a big eater, one of these is enough for lunch.
Alongside I ordered the wine flight (either 3 whites for €18 or 2 whites + sciacchetrà for €22) and was given a bit of history about winemaking in Cinque Terre and was guided through the wines in what to me felt like a very acceptable way (though I believe they have a sommelier recognition so I bet it would also please the more serious wine enthusiasts). All in all, can't be positive anough...
