Just left Vandiris after a 3 night stay in room 3 which is the room to have. The terrace is large and the view is amazing! Received an email from Debora before my stay with the access code for the door, I arrived before noon and my room was ready and keys were in the lock as she said they'd be. The directions she gave from the train station were easy and I had no trouble finding the room but it is up a very steep hill so if you had lots of luggage or mobility issues it would be tough. The room is also up a fairly steep flight of stairs. The room itself is spacious but basic, bathroom was large as well. Room had a mini fridge which was nice for storing cheese, meat etc. I will say however that the bed was very uncomfortable and the pillows were hard. The twin bed looked almost like a cot. The room also doesn't have A/C and it was very warm at night and I never slept well, a fan of some type to move air would have been very nice. I would have just slept on the lounge chair on the terrace except at night there's a large light on the side of the building that makes the terrace bright and also unfortunately shines into the room so you have to close the shutters although it was so hot I gave up on that so I could get as much air as possible in the room. There's also nobody on site, you leave the keys in the room when you depart so if you like having reception to answer questions for you this would not be your place. The top of the hill position does give great views but it is a little trek anytime you want to go down into the town. Overall I felt lucky to find this room with the terrace a couple of months before my trip, the terrace made the room better than it would have been otherwise. If I ever am lucky enough to return to the Cinque Terre I don't think I'd stay here again only because I would prefer Vernazza next time. But if you want a great view at a very affordable price I would definitely recommend you check...
Read moreUpon booking this room I knew that we had a private terrace on the cliff side but was in no way prepared for how perfect a location and gorgeous the view actually would be. We arrived just before sunset and the fact that it brought my mom to tears says it all. Stunning. Large private terrace provided amazing views and several chairs to soak it in. ||||The room itself was a triple room and provided us a place to shower and rest our heads, which was all I was expecting. Self check in with instructions provided. The directions to the room were a little confusing as the walking path is not clearly marked once come out of the subway tunnel. It said to take a right out of the tunnel and walk 10 meters but the path was much further up the hill than that which led to us walking up and down the street for several minutes. But not a big deal just know you have to walk up the hill more than instructed. ||||The Cinque Terre area was incredible and our three nights were not nearly enough. Highly recommend the hike from Monterosso to Vernazza. trains were a convenient was of getting from town to town. A number of lunch options in vernazza and La Scogliera in Manarola. I would love to have the seafood spaghetti again and can't beat the cheap liter of table wine. ||||Do not pass on the triple room with private...
Read moreThis is definitely not a "hotel". It is an apartment that is advertised as having air conditioning, which it does not. It has a small circular fan in the room. If you leave the windows open at night you're bound to get a plethora of bugs in the room. A house centipede and countless mosquitos and moths made their way into the room when we had the window open for a couple of hours at a time. The TV did not work at all; there was no signal on any of the channels, and the settings were in German. The wifi did not reach our room at all. You get one towel each, and if you want more, you have to pay SIX euros for each towel. The bed is definitely old, hard, and has springs sticking into your back as you sleep. ||||There was nobody there at check in, and I tried to email the owner about these issues only to recieve no reply. ||||The only redeeming quality is the beautiful view over the terrace looking...
