Alla Marina — Restaurant in Riomaggiore

This was the rudest dining experience we had during our time in Italy. We came for cocktails this afternoon but didn’t expect the female staff to be this unbelievably rude. So many reviews have already mentioned their terrible service attitude and yet nothing has changed. Really disappointing…😅

From ordering to asking where the bathroom was to just coming back after changing clothes to get our stuff, we were treated with coldness, unfriendly words and looks the whole time.

The waitress was extremely indifferent and arrogant, and it felt like she just wanted to drive us away. When we asked for ice, she looked at us with contempt, didn’t make eye contact, gave a side glance and threw the ice on the table. I’ve never experienced this rude service attitude in my whole life. We’ve been to many cities in Italy and no other place treated us like this.

As Asians, we really suspect there is racism involved. We also saw other reviews from Asian customers saying the same thing. If you’re Asian, please avoid this place. You don’t deserve to be treated like this. Don’t let this place ruin your mood...

Nice view but you pay for it with the menu prices. The food tasted good, however, the lobster pasta had no edible lobster (two half-heads and a small knuckle) and the chef didn’t want to correct that even though the person next to me ordered the same and they had some decent pieces of lobster in the shell. Also, and this is getting picky and I’d not normally mention such a small thing, my beer glass was half foam and not a proper pour to the line in the glass. The restaurant is situated in Manarola, Chinque Terra with a beautiful sea view. Manarola is one of the most romantic villages of Chinque Terra with a picturesque multicolored houses facing the sea. Very atmospheric place. At this restaurant we have enjoyed seafood, pasta and homemade wine. All serving are big and very tasty. Fresh seafood and homemade pasta and cold white wine on a very hot day made us spend several hours there. Friendly and responsive staff were kindly the requests of our noisy children).
