We spent 3 nights here during our month long trip through Italy. Lorenza who checked us in was so very sweet and welcoming. The location was great! We loved being so close to the water, the shops, and restaurants, and short walk to the trains to the other villages. Not a far train ride to Monterosso (maybe like 15min). We loved Manarola! We highly recommend this village. Much quieter and less busy than the others, but the most beautiful in our opinion as well! No sandy beach, only rocks for jumping. However, Monterosso is perfect for that and it's not far. The room was clean. I didn't expect to get housekeeping in an apartment stay! So that was nice. We left the room a huge mess the first morning only to find it surprisingly clean. That was a nice surprise. The problem however is just how LOUD it was. I know sometimes you sacrifice a little bit of noise for good location but we stayed in the middle of Venice and it was much quieter than this. The apartments must be right next to where trains go by because it's constant. All day and all night long. Not to mention the noise of people walking, we actually heard someone's cough! We could heard details of their conversations. All night long. Also, housekeeping starts at 9am. So there's no hope of sleeping in. Overall we had a good time. But don't expect to...
Read moreFirst the positives: location.||||Now, all the negatives. The noise was the major issue. Our room shared a wall with the train and a small basement like window with the street walkway. So, in addition to constant train noise (room vibrated when train came through) we also dealt with street noise listening to people's conversations. Check-in and check-out were very poor. The office is not always open so you have to schedule check-in. At check-out they were banging on our door at 9:50am and awaiting with cleaning supplies at 10am when we left. ||||This room may be ok for lower budget backpackers or younger all nighters that do not mind the simple accommodations and noise. The major issue is prior to check-in via email and again at arrival we asked if the room was quiet and peaceful. The management lied to us and stated it was. They clearly just care about filling the place and not about providing a nice place to stay with good service.||||Avoid the rooms...maybe the...
Read moreManarola is breathtakingly beautiful, and this apartment is right in the centre of it. If you arrive by train the stairs at the station are the only ones you have to negotiate when staying here. This is very rare in Manarola. It's steep ! Our room was small. yet brilliantly decorated to be very welcoming. It was very clean and the bed was very comfortable. the addition of 2 wine glasses meant we could buy a bottle of the local wine and go down to the harbour and enjoy the sunsets, which we loved. We were met at the office by our charming and helpful host, who showed us the room and gave us tips for our stay. The trains travel through a tunnel nearby, and the noise may be an issue for some. To stay in the heart of this town makes up for it. There are fishing boats pulled up outside the front door. This is still a working town, despite all the tourists (like us) who stay here. A highlight of our...
