Booked Sunday night a few weeks ago for my father & I to end our trip before we flew back to Sydney. I had requested a twin bed room (twin/ double option) and added to the request "Father and daughter staying". Other than a confirmation email through Trivago.co.uk I wasn't contacted with any other information. ||So check-in was 1pm - after a long drive from Ravello, a train trip from Naples to Rome, a taxi from Termini to Villa Fiorelli - we arrived at the B&B at 1230pm. A woman entering the apartment block let us enter and wait inside, as it was (and still is) sticky & humid weather. We lugged our suitcases up the remainder of the stairs, buzzed the doorbell and waited. ||And waited. Knocked on the door, buzzed the doorbell. And waited. ||||There were people inside, mopping, talking, walking around. I assumed it was a cleaner who was perhaps told not to answer the door... I even asked two young girls heading to the second floor if they could assist with contacting the B&B. One of them RANG the phone, still nothing. ||||Now if it were just me or myself and a friend I would have been cranky but gone to wait outside or sat on the stairs... But I have a 63 year old father. We had been traveling nonstop that day so far, the cleaner surely would have been able to see us with our bags through the security peep hole. How about if not opening the door, merely talking through it to say "Your room isn't ready, come back in 20 mins"... Or how about "No!"... What about even just speaking in your native tongue telling me to go away. ||They ignored us. For 40 minutes they ignored us. ||||Dad was exhausted and I needed to get him some water. I left him, I went out to look for Wifi so I could find another place to stay. Or at least try to call these guys. ||I'm not sure if it is because it's Sunday and everything is closed or because there isn't a lot around... There were a few Pharmacia's along the way, however, closed. ||||When I returned with water (and two much needed birre), the female manager of the place had arrived and had shown Dad our room. A double bed. When I questioned the female manager about the arrangement, she said something in Italian and rang Roberto, possibly the owner and/or the interpreter. He sounded lovely, but had no solution to my dad and I sharing a double bed, although I had requested a twin bed and stated the father/daughter situation. ||||By this stage I was pretty over it. I snapped the wifi information so I had it for later (was not offered to me, but I would have asked for it anyway). Then after speaking with Roberto the cleaner who had just finished up, asked me (or stated) to show our passports. ||That was a bit funny, the cleaner asking us for documentation... Because apparently while I was out, Roberto also spoke to my dad and had said the cleaner didn't speak English and that's why she didn't respond to us when we were knocking, and buzzing, and calling. How did she know we spoke English? If it's a security thing, wouldn't she have worked out it was the impending arrival of the two Australians (with suitcases and things)? ||||I am absolutely blown away at how rude this woman was to ignore us for so long. What if my father had been ill? Or fainted? I shudder to think how little help I'd get. All we wanted was to put our bags down or away safe. And then to see the same woman ask me in English for passports etc. :/ ||||We were given one set of keys and no explanation how to unlock. But they work, and we are very very safe. Hopefully there isn't an emergency and we have to escape because it's kinda like Fort Knox. ||||Also, I had to stop my shower two minutes into it because the drain was taking too long to drain the water and it began to overflow out of the shower area. On the plus, water temp good, and air con legitimately my life saver. ||Wouldn't recommend for couples, or families, or even friends. ||||Just solo travelers. You've got a tiny space to lie on your bed and do a bit of a robot dance when you want to even take a shirt off in...
Read moreBooked this location for a recent trip with my wife, called ahead to let them know I had a late flight and would not make it on time for regular check in, they told me it would be an extra €20 for late check in which I was fine with. When I arrived to The airport I took a shuttle service and they left us in front of the property which doesn't have any sign what so ever to let you know you are in the correct place. Walked over to the door and it was locked, I looked at the door bells and found the correct one and ranged it twice, no answer, kept pressing hoping to get an answer on the intercom or someone to come out and greet me but it never happened, I waited outside for more than hour, ringing the door bell and calling the property to let them know I was outside. I never got an answer, after waiting for so long and being tired from my flight and it being almost 11:00 PM, I had no choice but to look for another hotel. After I made it to the new hotel, checked in and was finally resting I got a call from the property asking me if I was going to check in to my room, I let them know that I was outside their property for more than hour ringing the door bell and calling with no answer, the person on the other line said he was their the whole time and never heard anything and had no missed calls, he asked if I was at the correct location and I described him where I was and what doorbell I rang, his response was that I probably made a mistake and didn't make dial correctly or that my phone doesn't allow international calls, but yet I was taking to him in my cell phone. I told him I had no choice but to get another room somewhere else since it was late and I was tired from my flight and from waiting outside, the person responded by asking if I was still going to check in the next day, because if I was there I was going to be a fee for checking in on a different day, i told him I was not going to pay for a mistake he made but not opening the door, I told him I was comfortable at the hotel I was, his response was to ask if I will not be needing to room since he could rent it to someone else.i told him I would call the next day and speak to the owner about what happened, the guy got really mad and said it was my fault and then hung up on me. At this point I don't want to deal with this property any more, I will still fight and get my money back since they didn't open the door on me. After I called Expedia I was able to get and answer as to why they didn't open the door, the intercom and door bell was not working, good to know it was my fault. Pleas save your self a big hassle and headache and book...
Read moreWe realy enjoyed our time in Rome and spent the nights in this cozy, little, family run guest house/apartment. Everything was as expected ( on a budget) and actualy a litle bit better here and there. We enjoyed the morning coffee in a small lemon tree gaden, and there was everything a tired tourist after a long day walking needs. The rooms are cleaned and taken care of when you're away. You preorder the breakfast and it is served at the time of your liking, and although portions are S to M sized, so a bulky man feels a bit hungry, but it is easily remedied by a corneto or two at the local coffee house few steps away. I would recomend Relais Villa Fiorelli as a good alternative if you're not so much into noisy touristy central Rome, and want some quiet and to see how italians actualy live. One more thing - it is very convenietn, just 7 min stroll from line C Metro, that takes you one stop to line A , wich connects to all the tourist locations. Use the metro - it is...
