The hotel itself was nice, but the staff is, well not good. I've called the hotel before booking on "popular page", and after about 3 minutes someone picked up the phone with just simple "Ja?". When I started to talk in English, they just slammed the phone. When we arrived at the dinner time, we waited for 15 minutes at the reception, just to get the room, just to find out, that the whole floor was without electricity. Luckily lady was still at the reception, so she turned the electricity on. Half an hour later I wanted to ask for parking as there was no spot in front of the hotel, so I spent again 17 minutes at the reception waiting, for someone. The shower is big and great though. The breakfast were nice, with freshly squeezed juices, and toasts. I wasn't so happy when I noticed older lady, which was working there, petting a cat, and then trying the freshness of the baked goods with the same hand. If you are alergic to animal fur, run... But the real show stopper for me, as a coffee person, was the "filter" coffee. This older lady, started to make an espresso with classic espresso machine, but didn't used the classic cups, instead she used the big 300ml mugs, and pushed the hot water through the coffee for solid 2 minutes until the mugs were full of this filthyness. Unfortunately this was after I already had my coffee. If you want coffee with your breakfast, ask the barista working there for one. Don't try the "filter" as I did. And the cherry on the top was payment. As I payed the price on the "booking" site, I had to only pay 4€ tax. I've handed over 10€ to the older lady, and she went for the change to the bar. Returned, handed me over 5€, and then searched in her hand for the 1€, like it was some treasure hunt. After almost a minute I told her, that it's fine, because we would be still there today.
TLDR: Solid (sort of) clean hotel, not usefull staff. Maybe try to approach the...
Read moreI don't write many poor reviews, but unfortunately this is one. Our initial impression of this hotel was not so good, but we tried to stay open minded. The up side: we got free bus passes, great views from the balcony, our room was dated but clean, and the hotel is conveniently located near one of the two cable car stations for great access to mountain hiking. The down side: unfortunately things just went downhill pretty fast. Our refrigerator was either unplugged or broken and no one cared enough to fix it (except our very nice housekeeper who tried but failed). Internet only worked in the uncomfortable tiny lobby or in the restaurant. Also, we had asked for a top floor room away from noise. We didn't realize that the top floor is used as some kind of apartment(?) for someone with extremely noisy children. We were right underneath these people (possibly owners?) and every night the jumping and running started. The last night we were there, it went on until 11 pm. We were also next to some kind of office where the phone would ring continually. After we told the friendly man at the desk, he asked who ever it belonged to to turn it off, which helped. Breakfast was good, dinner not so much. Although our server tried his best to be as helpful as possible, he was not responsible for the mediocre food. For the amount of money we paid to stay here, it was definitely not worth it. Not sure if it's a lack of management or disinterest, but although the staff seem to try to be helpful, there are limits to what they can do. Very...

ACCOGLIENZA: 7/10.
