** This review is from our stay in Dec 2024 (for some reason google wasn't allowing my post, the photos were my own)
Excellent stay here. We checked in at Hotel Villa Kastelruth (minutes walk). Very friendly staff (at both hotels).
You get a garage pass, bus passes (for each guest). The garage is minutes walk from the hotel and Busbahnhof.
You can drive your car to the hotel, unload your bags and then drive it to the parking garage. Same with checking out.
You use your room key to enter the hotel.
The rooms are very clean and comfortable. We booked two rooms. One had two rooms with a bathroom in between and skylights in all 3 rooms. You definitely hear the church bells ringing (which we didn’t mind at all).
We were pleasantly surprised to find a handwritten Christmas card welcoming us to the hotel, along with a tin of chocolate treats. We also had robes and nice room slippers to use.
We took our dog and they had set up a dog bed, bowl and nice bag of dog treats for him. There was even a nice red tag (with a picture of a dog) to hang on the door.
The lobby area had plenty of seating and an Honesty Bar (filled with any beverage you would like). There were also snacks to purchase and some free biscuits, croissants as well. We utilized the fridge in the honesty bar to store some of our drinks/food.
The location was awesome. Minutes walking distance to the Busbahnhof. To get to Seiser-Alm Bahn, just take the 3A bus (I think even the 3 bus would work too). Buses run on time and are very convenient.
The restaurants were also minutes walking distance. We had to make reservations (as we were a very large group).
In December, the Christmas market was still open along with a small ice rink. They loved playing “Sweet Caroline”
We took our dog and there was a small park to walk him before we went to Seiser-Alm for the day.
Unfortunately we didn’t get to try the breakfast (looked delicious, but next time!) because we had to get to the mountains early each day.
Check out is by 10am at Hotel Villa Kastelruth. Again, greeted with a warm smile and offered bottled water for all of us. (There was an option to include a tip upon check out. Which we did)
Definitely would...
Read moreThis hotel staff lacks customer appreciation. The hotel is very pretty and has a unique old world style. I loved the carpets and woodwork on the ceilings. There’s a game room and bar room that’s all self serve. The weird stuff begins when you check in. You have to check in at another hotel 5 min away down a hill so there is no one at the front desk at this hotel. So if you have luggage you have to walk it uphill to this hotel or bring a car then drive it back to the other hotel. That means also no one to talk to about the area, You have to go to the other hotel for that. Then we booked a room for $285 and it’s in July and we’re Americans. The hotel was not full. So instead of giving us a nice room. They gave us a room with a view of a construction project and the room was one of the tiniest in the hotel. The beds were small made for kids And were very firm Foam. It was quite uncomfortable and hard to sleep and in the morning around 7 am the nail guns started so it was just bad that the hotel didn’t have the customer service skills to realize this.
I just hope they don’t give this room to anyone else. It should be the last one to give when everything else is taken.
Otherwise I liked the welcome drink on Sunday with snacks and the design of the hotel is great. It feels like an old Swiss chalet. There were about 6 other people staying and no one really talked or played games downstairs. There’s a self service bar with snacks and drink with everything at a reasonable price. However for the price starting at 285$ it’s quite expensive. This town is also very dead and has no good downtown. The next town...
Read moreThe Cavallino at Kastleruth is OUTSTANDING! Perfectly centrally located in a small little town. Our room was perfect in everyway and the view of the Dolmites was right outside our room - was just breathtaking! Checking in was a dream. We meet Katrina at the other location down the street. Shes a doll! When we arrived at our beautiful entrance door and viewed an absolutely well decorated B&B home that was 700 years old. Not a flaw of being old. Our room was just fabulous with a 4 poster bed and a 2 person tub in a beautiful bathroom! Bed was soo comfy and our terrace was perfect. We played checkers in the study which was so fun! The calming room downstairs had a steam unit, shower, was just sweet tranquility - perfect! The bus stop was right down stairs from our room to take us to Bolzano and free with renting the room! Breakfast was perfect and the staff were so awesome! They gave you hints on where and what to see for hiking trails and where to get dinner. They just could not be more accommodating! An honesty bar filled with everything you could ask for was a dream after a long days hike. We will be back with our family the next time and this B&B is DEF on the list! Highly highly recommend. It was well worth every dollar spent and...
