We spent four days, including NYE, at the Waldrast.||Rooms (we were in 15): large, light-filled (but good double curtains), completely updated, excellent bathroom and closets, great bed.||Restaurant: We were assigned a specific table and server (Mike) for our stay. This is smart because it expedites the process. You can just walk into the restaurant, eat, and be on your way without waiting to be seated or waiting for a bill. The relationship we built with Mike was very pleasant. We got to know one another, which meant, among other things, that he knew what we wanted before we had to ask for it. ||Food: 5 courses for $15. Cannot be beat. And the food is quality. Completely different menu every night. Very thoughtfully and creatively prepared. Filet mignon on NYE...still $15. Remarkable, but it incentivizes guests to stay on the grounds, draw from the curated, extensive wine list, and enjoy the hotel.||Decor: Total reno a few years ago, but the design choices were so timeless that it looks as though it was just completed. Very warm, chic in common spaces, restaurant, spa, rooms.||Location: Unbeatable. Steps to quaint town and gondolas up to slopes. ||Even with all of the above, the best part of our stay was the very nice mood of the place. Everyone is pleasant, friendly, attentive, sincere. We believe this radiates from the family that owns and operates the hotel. The parents, son, daughter (a fifth member is chef, whom we didn't meet) are genteel, engaged, highly professional. And generous: they put out a lovely spread, including oysters and champagne, on NYE. We interacted mostly with Maximillian, one of the sons, who is especially skilled as a manager and hotelier. Often family-run shops seem to struggle to keep up with larger operators; this place glides...

Read moreUpon arrival you are greeted with a warm welcome from the owner of the hotel. The hotel foyer is modern with a lounge and bar for resting with a warm lighting. We stayed in the standard room for 8 nights- the bed was unbelievably comfortable and one of the best sleeps I’ve had in a hotel. The room was a good size, typical South Tyrolian style, very clean with a good view from the balcony. Our room was cleaned every day, which was lovely to come back to after a long day of hiking. The hotel offers a wellness facility, which is out of this world. You have a choice of 2 saunas, a steam room and infrared cabinet as well as a whirlpool inside and outside. We used these facilities almost everyday, and it was never overcrowded or uncomfortable. There is also a outdoor pool and play area for children. We had breakfast included in our room price, however the hotel offers a 5 star dinner at an additional small price. The 4/5 course menu is presented beautifully, tasted fantastic and a overall wonderful experience. Overall, the warm family like experience at Waldrast is one that you will not get anywhere else. All staff members are ready at anytime to help or assist you, they are patient and pleasant to talk to and give you a real feeling of comfort. I would also recommend the massage on offer. Vanessa, Max, Marijan, Stefanie and the whole team, we thank you for the best time after such uncertain times in the last 2 years. We will...
