Hotel Europa Sirmione — Hotel in Sirmione

First, the good: ||The hotel is nice. The rooms in the new building are very modern and have wood floors. The view is nice; the balcony is spacious. You have a lake and pool view in the new building. The breakfast is good. I like that it’s served and not self service good Choice during COVID19; they should keep this concept it’s more hygienic! They offer free bikes. The privat Lake is literally across a bike path, but the lake is only accessible via a landing stage. For adults it’s perfect and relaxing, but I don’t recommend the lake for children, let alone babies. They can’t play in the water or ease into it from shore. The pool is nice. There aren’t that many sun loungers, but we always secured one as did. everyone else. Not sure how it would go of they were fully booked which I’m not sure they were. There are a few restaurants within walking distance 800m (5min) and an ice cream shop as well. However, the old town is about 3,5km (30 min walk) or 10 min bike ride, remember free bikes from the hotel! I feel bad for writing the bad below because everyone was so exceptionally nice from the reception to the housekeeping, but the below really bothered me...||||The bad: ||Our bathroom was not cleaned once during our 8 night stay. I know this because my daughter used the Bidet as a sink to brush her teeth and she spit on the outside of the bidet on the first night. Her spit marks and toothbrush were still there if you looked from a certain angle while hovering over the toilet (since I was grossed out and didn’t sit anymore). She also had a really bad stomachache on the third night. We cleaned everything as good as we could but we could not reach all angles. Again, while hovering over the toilet you could see that the toilet was not properly cleaned. And when lifting the seat you could see yellow stains...I really expected more;||It’s gross enough without the pandemic but Italy was one of the hardest hit countries so more cleanliness would have definitely made my stay more enjoyable. The restaurant belonging to the hotel or attached to it, I don’t know I’m confused, is not good. I wouldn’t eat there if I were you. We are there one day for lunch which you have to reserve in advance if you want any chance of eating there, and it was our||Most expensive and least tasteful meal during our stay. For lunch we paid nearly €90,||Absolutely overpriced and not worth it. Our average for lunch was about €40 and for dinner €70 at really great restaurants. ||||In summary: ||||It’s a nice hotel (new building), in a nice location with extremely wonderful staff. They offer free bikes and free snacks with drink orders. The pool is heated and quite nice. The private beach is nice (for adults). The only thing that really put a damper on my stay was the fact that the toilet/bathroom was not properly cleaned and the restaurant was overpriced...

Highly recommend this hotel. 5/5 overall stay.

At the front of the hotel, there is a nice walking path along the lake. Restaurants and supermarkets closed by. The hotel has it's own private little beach where one can swim and plenty of beach beds to relax.

Hotel restaurant: such a great view from there. Watched the moon rise above the lake while having dinner as well as the beautiful mountains across the lake. Very romantic spot for couples. We found our main pasta dishes being very very salty. Octopus for starter was delicious.

Highlights on Spa and breakfast: one of the best spa we have experienced. Check out my short video below. We were a bit exhausted from exploring a few days in Venice, we wanted to take it easy and relax at the hotel before continuing our journey to Rome. The indoor and outdoor pools are free access but we used the spa facilities for an extra €15 per person each visit for a maximum of 3 hours each visit. Well worth it. You will have to pre-book (before arrival or as soon as you checked in) your preference time slot for the spa to avoid disappointment. The times we were there, no one else there so we had our private spa experience which was perfect.

Breakfast was amazing. Lots of options and relaxing views as you savour your coffee. Very peaceful environment (other than some people watching some videos clips on their phone one morning, I mean, seriously!). Friendly and helpful staff members. Some birds come by for their breakfast and a couple of wasps (not that bad).

Location: 15 minutes drive away from both train stations (Desenzano del Garda and Peschiera del Garda). We took the Eurostar from Venice to Desenzano station, got an Uber to the hotel. Cost us €60. Somehow, the taxi (that the hotel kindly called for us) from the hotel to the same train station cost us only €30 ish.

Da wir zum ersten Mal am Gardasee waren und wir entsprechend unserer Gewohnheiten, eine Unterkunft mit direkten Seeblick suchten, fiel unser Wahl auf das Hotel Europa in Sirmione. Des Weiteren ist es uns ein ruhiger Aufenthalt wichtig, weshalb sich vor dem Hotel keine Hauptverkehrsstraße befinden sollte. Auch diesen Anspruch kann das Hotel erfüllen. Im Vorfeld unseres Aufenthalts wurden wir darüber informiert, dass das Hotel sich im Umbau befindet und nicht alle Bereiche (Indoor-Pool, SPA-Bereich und Fitnessräume) nutzbar sind, was uns jedoch in keinster Weise störte. Während unseres Aufenthaltes wurde gerade der neue Restaurant-Bereich eingerichtet, weswegen wir uns dazu nicht äußern können. Die Baustelle für die Erweiterung des Hotels ist mittels Sichtschutzzäunen abgesperrt, weshalb man im Lobby-Bereich bzw. auch am Pool davon kaum etwas zu sehen ist. Während unseres Aufenthaltes dort, spürten für von dem Treiben der Bauarbeiter wenig.

Der Empfang in der großzügigen Lobby des Hauses war sehr herzlich und familiär, weshalb wir uns sofort sehr wohl fühlten. Von der Lobby aus gelangt man entweder direkt zu den Bereich mit dem neun gebauten Pool und den Sonnenliegen, oder durch den Bar-Bereich über den privaten Strandzugang direkt zum See. Alles ist in einem sehr schönen und gepflegten Zustand.

Unser Zimmer (203) befindet sich in dem neu gebauten Teil des Hotels. Dieser neue Teil wurde nach nur 8 Monaten Bauzeit anstelle des alten Haupthauses errichtet. Dementsprechend sind diese Zimmer neu und modern eingerichtet. Sie verfügen über die heutzutage üblichen Standards wie Klimaanlage, kostenloses WLAN, einen Mini-Kühlschrank und einen Schreibtisch. In dem Zimmer befindet sich auch eine Nespresso-Maschine, welche auf Wunsch täglich mit neuen Kapseln aufgefüllt wird. In dem modern eingerichteten Badezimmer fehlt es auch an nichts. Die Dusche ist sehr großzügig und diese kann wahlweise mittels Regendusche oder Handbrause genutzt werden.

Das Frühstücksbuffet wird im Bar-Bereich angerichtet. Jedoch bleibt einem die Entscheidung frei, ob man sich im Innenbereich hinsetzen möchte, oder auf der wunderschönen Terrasse mit dem traumhaften Seeblick. Nach einem langen Gespräch mit der Inhaberin, haben wir noch ein paar Empfehlungen ausgesprochen, wie man das teilweise eintönige Angebot noch verbessern könnte. Wir denken, dass sich hier in den kommenden Wochen noch so einiges verändern wird. Frühstückzeiten sind zwar offiziell von 7:30Uhr bis 10:00 Uhr angegeben, aber hier wird die Zeit nicht so eng genommen. Man bekommt auch nach 10:00Uhr noch genügend zu Essen.

Für 10€ extra pro Tag haben wir einen Stellplatz in der Tiefgarage dazugebucht. Leider fallen die Parknischen recht schmal aus, was dann bei größeren Pkw bzw. SUV zu Problemen führen wird. Es sind aber auch genügend Stellplätze im Außenbereich vorhanden.

Von Hotel aus ist fußläufig vieles erreichbar. Zum einen gelangt man nach ca. 3km in die traumhaft schöne Altstadt von Sirmione, welche über die Landesgrenzen hinaus bekannt ist. Möchte man diesen Fußmarsch nicht anstreben, so kann man vom Bus-Terminal Piazza Campiello (ca. 5 Minuten zu Fuß) aus mit dem Bus-Shuttle in die Altstadt fahren. Eine Fahrt kostet derzeit pro Person und Strecke 2€.

Auch sind viele Restaurants in der näheren Umgebung vom Hotel zu finden. Ein Besuch bei da Piere lohnt sich auf jeden Fall immer. Hier sind die hauseigenen Makkaroni der Geheimtipp, jedoch ist auch alles andere von der Speisekarte zu empfehlen.

Wir waren Ende Juni 2024 für 10 Tage im Hotel Europa und würden sofort wieder dort übernachten. Wir sind schon gespannt auf den nächsten Besuch, wenn der neue Anbau fertig ist. Das Team rings um die Inhaberin als auch sie selbst sind sehr freundlich, zuvorkommend und haben uns jeden Wunsch erfüllt. Dieses Team hat dafür gesorgt, dass das Hotel einen solch sehr guten Eindruck bei uns hinterlassen hat.
