Alexandra Stay was a hidden gem, very close to Sirmione but just far enough away that you didn't feel that you were in the centre of such a popular tourist location.||||Booking was very easy and the website shows all of the apartments that are available - so you know what you are booking.||||On arrival at the aparthotel, which is very easy to locate, there are a number of parking spaces immediately outside and you can also use the underground parking garage for a small fee. Given we had recently purchased the car, we opted to use the garage and were pleasantly surprised that the spaces are long and wide - quite unusual in Italy.||||As this is an aparthotel, the reception desk isn't manned 24 hours a day, it is closed for a few hours over lunch, this wasn't an issue at all for us, if there are any issues then you can contact the owner.||||The staff are so friendly and welcoming, everyone is genuinely happy and clearly enjoy working at Alexandra Stay. There are no issues for non-Italian speaking guests - everyone from the excellent cleaning staff, reception team and lifeguard to the owner speak excellent English and certainly put my husband and I to shame with our lack of language skills.||||The apartments are fantastic, clean, beautifully decorated and have everything that you would need for a stay. They even provide plastic glasses should you want to use them by the swimming pool. We had a wrap around balcony that overlooked the pool on the top floor and had a view over the lake. There was only one thing better than sitting there having a sundowner and that was having a sundowner on the dock that the hotel owns. Given its position, you have the lake on either side of the hotel, it isn't a frontline view to the rear - but it is still fantastic to watch the sun go down. The dock has a small beach and loungers and chairs. Very relaxing and very few people use it and so it was wonderful to sit and have a drink. It also makes it very safe and fun to swim in the lake.||||The rooms are equipped with a safe and loads of storage so you can keep the apartment really tidy - I hate falling over suitcases when i am away - so being able to hide them in the massive wardrobes was brilliant. ||||The swimming pool area has been decorated beautifully, much like the rest of the hotel. Beautiful umbrella's, padded lounge cushions and small amusing touches such as two stone elephants that come out each day and look as if they are about to take a drink from the water.||||There is also a small garden area that feels slightly Moroccan, beautiful tea lights, colourful cushions and throws - making it a very relaxing space.||||There are no dining facilities, except for a stunning breakfast, but as these are apartments, I wouldn't expect to have anything else.||||There is an honest bar that is open 24 hours a day with beers, prosecco, cold drinks and ice cream available. This was great if you didn't want to go upstairs when you were by the pool and shows the characters of the owners. You just write down what you have taken and then it all gets added up at the end of the stay.||||We had the apartment for a week and never got bored, you are a 10 - 15 minute flat walk to the walled town and there are lots of restaurants and bars on the way and while you are there. We had some fantastic food and a fillet steak that is possibly the best I have ever eaten. ||||We had one small concern that the swimming pool is close to the main road to Sirmione but we shouldn't have worried, the sun loungers face the hotel and there were no issues with noise or fumes. Water was a very good temperature and the pool area is kept very clean.||||Brilliant stay - thank you to everyone at the Alexandra Stay - we will be back to...

Read moreFirst and foremost, Alexandra Stay Chic is the same as Rossi Apartments Alexandra. Confused? So were we!|I would rate this property between average and very good.|We had booked a 2 bedrooms, 1 bathroom apartment through booking.com and too our very pleasant surprise we got the Aurora apartment on the top floor with 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. Great with two teenagers.|The Aurora apartment offers great views of the lake and surrounding area.|It has a kitchen with two hot platels, a decent fridge/freezer and dishwasher.|The kitchen is very spars on cutlery and utensils.|The living room is an ok space with a large fold out couch, the bedrooms and bathrooms were spacious, modern, large and clean|The property itself is within walking distance of some of the best restaurants in Sirmione and the best Gelatoria; Mr Ice.|It is 1 km to the old town and parking can be hard at the centre so maybe take a nice stroll past the lake into town.|One of the main attractions of this property is the large swimming pool, with view of the lake. Although the main road into Sirmione runs past here, it wasn't a distraction or annoyance.|The weird thing about the pool is that is closes at 7 pm sharp. Not very nice on days when the mercury is above 35 degrees and you want to cool down after a day trip. At least the pool in Hotel Suisse, next door, stayed open later!|Furthermore there were insufficient sun lounges, lounge cushions and pool towels.|I have tried to contact the hotel prior to our stay around the requirements for pool towels but with any response!|The staff was sort of friendly and definitely had their favorite guests?!|Considering the amount of money we paid for our stay, i would have a good look around before I would book here again. There are an amazing amount of choices in accommodation...
