We recently dined at Restaurant Alleria and had a mixed experience. The location is lovely, right on the water, and we even had a beautiful visit from some swans towards the end of our meal. Our friendly male waiter was incredibly helpful and truly the highlight of our visit.
However, we were put off by the older male and surly female waiters, both of whom had filthy uniforms with food stains down their fronts.
As for the food, the entrees were underwhelming. The tuna tartare had a very off-putting fishy taste (to the point that we were unsure whether to eat it or not), and the octopus dish was chewy. However, the scallops were lovely though. Our main dishes were visually impressive. I had the lobster pasta, which looked incredible, but the pasta itself was thick and underdone. The lobster and sauce were delicious, but the dish needs some fine-tuning. Additionally, my partner found his risotto incredibly average and wouldn’t recommend it to others.
On balance, Restaurant Alleria is an okay pick for dinner in Sirmione. However, some improvements are needed to justify the 245 euro cost for 6 people (and we didn’t...
Read moreHonestly I had high hopes for this restaurant when I booked my family to eat here. Unfortunately I was very disappointed with the quality of the food. My family and I agree that the best way to tell how the food will be in Italy is the quality of the bread at the beginning, unfortunately in this situation the bread was stale. After the disappointing bread, we ordered a few different starters where the tuna tartare was very odd in taste, and probably was not as fresh as the restaurant promotes. Finally the mains seemed promising because they where very visually appealing however we soon found our most of the meals lacked a lot of flavour and where in need of salt, something you should need to touch when it comes to your main meals. During service one of the staff members was quite surly and disinterested in engaging with the table. The view was lovely and there was some cute swans that visited during our meal so that was nice, but for people looking for a honest review about the place…I would pay that taxi fare and go somewhere...
Read moreI've been in this restaurant to celebrate a birthday that unfortunately was ruined by the pour quality food and very rude behaviour of the owner and unprofessional waiter. The food we had was mostly over or under cooked and smelly. Particularly the steamed cod did smell like rotten fish. When I complained about it they told me that is the smell of cod and asked me if I have ever had cod before... Also then the owner came to me, took my plate, tried the fish and asked everyone else in the restaurant if there was any fish expert in the room because I was making him look bad. Like a fool. Very classy behaviour if I can say so... Anyway... After this nobody pay any more attention to us and we had to go to pay the bill to the till. Nothing at all was removed from our bill even if I also let them know that 2 out of 4 starters were not good and badly cooked. We had "shrimps with bacon" that was completely soft and gross looking. Completely not edible. With almost raw defrosted shrimps. Overall a very bad...
