This place is fairly new and we were a little apprehensive booking somewhere with so few reviews. I'm glad we did! Il Rivolo is a 10 minute walk (up hill) from busy Sorrento town centre. If your coming with luggage I suggest a taxi to the church below the B&B the road up isn't really heavy luggage friendly. We had light back packs and it was fine but you'll feel it! You will have to bring your bags up the last 1-200 m to the entrance. The place is entered through two huge wooden doors it is number 65 and the press to talk intercom has it listed there. No big sign just look for number 65! The walk into town is down hill the walk back up hill. There are 2 supermarkets ( off the tourist strip) on the walk. Handy with your own cooking gear.||Nina our hostess greeted us on arrival and was very sweet. We were on the 3rd floor and the views were great. There are two other apartments below the one we had "Liemone". Above us was just the terrace which has great views of the sunset. It's in a small valley surrounded by lemon orchards - very Italian. You don't feel the hussle of Sorrento at all, it really feels Italian.||The place was huge great living kitchen area, separate bedroom and very nice bathroom. The bed was real comfortable ( we've had some hard ones here in Italy). The shower had excellent water pressure, and real Pantene shampoo not satchels. Everything is modern and new. Refrigerator, gas stove with oven, there is a small non stick pan and a small stainless pot big enough for pasta for two! Also, olive oil, salt and pepper, egg flip, pot spoon bottle opener, etc. There is no washing machine however Nina offered us laundry service for 10 euro ( we had one load full)- bargain would have cost that much at the laundromat. It came back neatly folded. Room was serviced daily.||Wifi is excellent the router is in the room. TV is Italian channels and music. Breakfast is provided and in the room already. 2 cereals, fruit, juice, water and milk in the fridge. Crossings and the French fared bread as well. Nina gave us some eggs as well which we cooked up. Was nice to have a private breakfast at our own pace! It's a cross between serviced apartment and B&B. ||Getting there - use a taxi! After getting there we had no problems finding it. Walking the first time was unnerving we were clueless and unsure. After that it was easy. Nina does send you excellent instructions however we didn't check our email until after we arrived. It's cash only no credit card facilities. ||If your spending more than one night in Sorrento this is great value for money, clean, new and once it gets a few more reviews I think it...
Read morePros and cons with il Rivolo for me and husband. ||If your a light sleeper this isn’t the place for you, as the accommodation is set on a narrow street, you hear scooter/small car horns beeping as they pass by, all times of the day. Wasn’t a problem for me or my husband, but realise this could be an issue for sensitive sleepers. ||B&B? I personally would say this was a cross between a b&b and a self serviced apartment. Breakfast was pre packed sweet cake type slices, biscuits, Melba toast, jams, honey, yoghurts. There was tea, coffee and fresh milk. ||If your not good on your feet it’s could seem a long walk from the centre up a steep hill, personally the hill didn’t bother me. Walk from the square, piazza Tasso was apx 20 minutes. ||NOT THE OWNERS FAULT, Booking.com said 500m from Sorrento train station. Maybe as the crow flies, but not walking especially with back-pack walking up the hill to find the place. ||WiFi was fantastic and worked well within the apartment. |Apartment was very clean, air conditioning worked very well. We didn’t have a balcony but some of the other rooms did. We had a large kitchen/seating area. Large bedroom and good shower in the bathroom. |The apartment was set in a beautiful location, open the window to lemon trees. ||The host was very friendly and offer to collect from train station with an hour notice. They offered a shuttle service from the town (one way) to the accommodation at 18:00/18:15 or 22:00/22:15. Which was great if those times suited you. With 24 hours notice they would take you to the port or train station on your departure, which was much...
Read moreMe and boyfriend stayed here for one week in June. We stayed on the ground floor apartment which was beautiful and modern with an amazing balcony that looked over the lemon trees. The kitchen was well equipped and breakfast provided was very good. The family that own the apartment are very accommodating and picked us up when we arrived in Sorrento to help us with our bags and dropped us to the ferry when we had to leave. The apartment is about a fifteen minute walk from Sorrento so may be difficult for less abled people but they do offer a taxi service from the centre if you would like to use it. Me and my boyfriend enjoyed the walk so never did (and thought it was a good way to burn off all the pizza and pasta we had been eating!) It was such a lovely find outside the hustle of Sorrento which also has a lovely grocery a short walk away which sold the most amazing fresh fruit and vegetables. The paths leading to hotel are quite narrow so you do hear the odd motorcycle beeping but we thought it added to the charm of being in Italy! I would definitely recommend staying at Il Rivolo and wish we...
