You absolutely must come to this restaurant if you are in Sorrento. One of the best dining experiences of my life. I can assure you that there is a reason that this place is rated so highly on Google etc.
There are plenty of “tourist traps” in Sorrento and the surrounds that will charge you an arm and a leg for mediocre food. This place is the complete opposite. So much care and attention to the details which create a fantastic experience. You can tell that the proprietors really care about the quality of food and the hospitality.
We rocked up without a booking at around 8pm. There were no tables free, but we were shown to a waiting area and offered a cocktail, which was a great way to start things off. Sometimes when you show up to a really popular place with no reservation, you’re met with a combination of disdain and disbelief, but we were greeted warmly.
Before any of the dishes we ordered came out we got some bread and some little amuse bouche type bites. One was a little mini bruschetta and the other was a coquette type thing. Very nice.
We ordered the tuna tartare and the panko crumbed egg as appetisers. Both were excellent. We then had the truffle pasta to share as a first course and this pasta was one of the best things I have ever eaten. Very liberal amount of truffle and the sauce was deliciously buttery.
For mains we had the steak and the octopus. Again, both were fantastic and that truffle pasta was not an easy act to follow. The chips with the steak were awesome. So fluffy on the inside and so crispy on the outside and just the right portion.
We were too stuffed to order dessert, but we had some cocktails which were really nice (Sorrento Spritz and Garden Bloom). I also had a beer that was recommend to me which we really nice. Finally, we asked for them to recommend a red and a rose to have with our mains. I’m not a big wine drinker but the red they recommended was awesome.
Lastly, I’ll just say that the vibe and atmosphere is terrific and it really just completes the whole experience which makes this...
Read moreMy wife and I stumbled upon this restaurant when looking for a late night option other than pizza. Luckily we found Ibisco near our B & B away from the town center by just walking in probably about an hour before close. We were mainly drawn to the ambience without really knowing what to expect, and it turned out to be one of the best, if not the best, restaurant we went to during our honeymoon trip throughout Europe. We ordered the burrata to start with a local bottle of wine which the waiter recommended. Both were superb and we could immediately tell the quality of this gem we happened to stumble into. Next, we ordered the pasta dish with black truffle and a chicken breast stuffed with a thigh, which the description itself kind of blew our minds. It was probably the best and juiciest chicken breast dish we had ever had as it was insanely moist accompanied with a delicious red sauce and a layered eggplant side dish that was also delicious. The pasta was unsurprisingly delicious and perfectly cooked. Last, my wife ordered the dessert of the day, which was a layered pastry dish with a lemon cream and fresh strawberries. The chef also put a special message on the plate for us for our honeymoon which was a nice touch to end the night. Most of all, I must comment on the service. To be fair, my wife and I came in around closing time not really dressed for such a fantastic dinner and we are American on top of it. Interacting with the waiters was probably one of the most memorable parts of our trip as they were all extremely kind, funny and genuine. We were the last people in the restaurant, so we spent the last 30 or so minutes enjoying our time and getting to know them. It was truly an unforgettable experience all around, and we anticipate visiting Sorrento every time we visit the Amalfi Coast just to...
Read moreMe and my boyfriend had just checked into our Air bnb up the road. Ibisco was one of the first places our host recommended us to try. We are happy he did! To start, the service was fantastic. We were greeted by Antonio who was so friendly and immediately sat us back on the patio seating. The patio itself is beautiful. Lots of fresh herbs they use in the dishes surround you as well as well thought out lighting and simple table decorations. Very romantic even in the middle of the day.
The service was top notch. We were started with a small special plate on the house and it was a nice way to start the meal. Not much needs to be said about the food. You can see from the pictures how amazing it was. Everything down to the small tomatoes in the burrata salad was fresh and prepared with care. We enjoyed a table side preparation of their freshly caught bass which tasted as great as the preparation by Antonio was cool. We have now been here a few days since eating here and still are talking about the rum cake recommended by Antonio. It was awesome! We both also got a drink (one glass of wine and a mixed drink) which were both great. Highly recommend the gin and elderflower drink if you need to cool off while you eat. Very refreshing.
Overall, if you want a beautiful environment, friendly staff, and amazing food… try Ibisco. And especially ask for Antonio. Every recommendation he had for us was an absolute HIT! Grazie to Antonio and the...
