Unfortunately only an okay from me on this hotel. The hotel does not feel like a 5star at all. There are some maintenance and cleaning issues in the room and the Service is just okay (and sometimes worse). If some employees are making an effort, it’s just not enough to make up for the rest.
We booked ourselves into a presidential suite to have a great final weekend for our vacation but are not getting the expected service. Due to a late arrival on the first day we asked for a dinner reservation and for the jacuzzi to be prepared once dinner was over.
When we arrived at the zafira restaurant there was no table for us and we were asked to go somewhere else since they had a big group coming and no time for us. When we insisted on the table we were allowed to stay but afterwards only barely seen to and served only as an afterthought. The food was okay (slightly undercooked) but nothing special. Nothing I could recommend.
Back in the room we arrived to a jacuzzi not even half filled which might have been because there was barely any water coming out of the tap....
Overall... nothing to recommend especially for the price. Location is great though.
Update on the full stay:
The review continues and where it improved in the restaurant department unfortunately it missed on quite a few other points
breakfast was Max 3 stars with all the basics you would expect from a continental breakfast but nothing beyond an omelette and cannoli (the only regional thing) that could possibly make it 5star. It was served with an attitude but the when I ordered cannoli, strawberries and freshly pressed orange juice, latte macchiato... it looked beautiful (although the juice was in the tiniest glass I had ever seen). Asking for a refill I got half a glass of latte macchiato and an orange juice but for the rest of the hour no waiter would come near us anymore and I left with 1,5 coffee, some cannoli, a bit of juice and strawberries in my belly. Definitely not enough for the day.
After sightseeing we returned at 3 pm to the suite. No cleaning yet. When the cleaning lady eventually came at 5 pm she did some things but definitely didn’t clean. On the morning of our check out day we still had the old glasses and Prosecco bottle from the first night standing on the table in the hallway. The bedroom was full of sand we brought in on the first evening and some other dirt we encountered when moving furniture out of the way... that had clearly not been moved for a while.
Our Terrasse had not seen a proper cleaning in quite some time with the furniture having seen better days.
In a nutshell, not worth the money. Some issues with overall management and people motivation issues is my guess why this hotel is so much lacking in...
Read moreThe hotel is really well located, in front of the sea, nice swimming pool and interior design. But the service and guests relation is just the worst I have ever seen. I am used to five stars hotels as a customer and also because I work in luxury hospitality industry in Paris. My boyfriend and I stayed for 3 nights and from the beggining, we had issues everyday which were not managed at all.1. In the package we payed (200€ per night), we had the access to the spa with turkish bath and sauna. When we tried to get in, after the reception desk told us it was possible, we found out that there were constructions and workers in the spa so impossible to get in. When we told the reception, they offered to give us a free drink at the bar which was already included in our package.2. During the second evening, we found out that there was a massive leak in the shower ceiling. The following day, a maintenance guy was supposed to come in the morning but nobody showed up. We switched rooms and the reception offered a 40% discount at the spa. 3. We booked a couple massage at the spa with the discount, at 5pm, which the reception guy told us was available. At 4.40pm, the reception called us to tell us that the spa was waiting for one of us to come in at 4.30 and the next one at 5pm (?!?). That was never what we asked for and the reception told us there was no other way so we just cancelled and asked if another discount was possible and something else (we ordered room service, dry cleaning, we used the parking...). We waited for an hour in our room for a call from the front office manager that never happened. 4. The last morning, we asked the receptionnist what was finally possible and she told us that it was not possible to do any discount and that none of the manager were here.WE ARE STILL IN THE HOTEL AND DID NOT CHECK OUT YET SO IF ANYONE CAN HELP US IT WOULD BE VERY GREAT
Update: after the General Manager saw my comment, he found us after we paid and checked out and did NOTHING. He was just "sad about the comment" and probably wanted me...

The word "prospective", used in my review, clearly states that I wasn't a guest. A prospective guest, is a potential guest. I guess you didn't read my review properly, or didn't try to.
The second part about me using your private parking space is a blatant lie, which is pretty clear also from you contradicting yourself in the same phrase. If I was using your parking space, how was I also creating unnecessary traffic at the same time?
Choose one and go with it. Either I was using your private parking space, or I was parked on the street creating unnecessary traffic.
I was in fact parked on the street with my signal on, unloading baggages, creating unnecessary traffic, so if you, or your valet wanted, you could have just called the police to handle it.
But it is absolutely unacceptable for your valet to shout at me while I am on a public street, and also follow me for a second time and threaten me after I went to your reception to notify them about what happened.
I think you are under the impression that you also own the public street.
You don't own the public street, and no matter what, you don't shout at people on the street.
What's even more absurd is that instead of apologising for the wrong behaviour, you are trying to justify your valet by saying that it's ok to shout at people if they are not your guests.
P.S. Check your database, I have indeed been a guest of NH before, just not in Taormina, luckily I would say, because your hospitality in Taormina is inexistent, and apparently based on other negative reviews, I'm not the only one that thinks that.
No worries though, Sarah, I've raised a complaint with the NH Global Customer Care and I'll update you on the outcome here.

Train your staff better. The verbal abuse and threatening behaviour of the valet to prospective customers is totally unacceptable.
I reached out to customer care by email, about...
