A Google search for Taormina breakfast led me here, after brushing away the hotels. Although I usually try to eat meals when traveling that approximate meals eaten by the people who live in the country I’m in, I’ve never shared the enthusiasm of many denizens of the Mediterranean basin for the breakfast of coffee and a cigarette. Ordinarily, I would not order something called an English breakfast in Sicily, but I was so tired of eating sweet things for breakfast that when I saw the photo on the menu affixed to the wall on Corso Umberto I, I ordered it. You can see what I received in photo, rather at variance with the illustration of the broiled mushrooms and candied canned beans, but I really liked it. The beans that they served me were savory not sweet, the broiling of the tomato made removal of the skin easy, the smoked bacon was delicious, and I ate more lettuce for breakfast today than I have in my life heretofore. The service was attentive and there was no television. Someone just lit up a cigarette behind me, and a star fell from the...
Read moreAVOID. This is an awful place, the worst latte/coffee in Taormina in my experience. They don't even use fresh milk, croissants not fresh either. This left me feel so sickly and nauseated. Have been here for 3 weeks and this was by far the worst coffee. They also charge double at 5 euros Vs 2.50 in the side streets and a few meters down) for the latte machiatto. I ended up walking and then going to Excelsior Hotel for another latte to get the awful long life milk taste out of my mouth and paid the same price, but got much better service, better latte with real milk and lovely biscuits too. Great lattes/coffee can be found in the five star hotels, Osterica just a few metres down, a place right across Bam Bam Bar and also Cafe Zerrafno (I think it is called). I think the 5 star reviews are mainly from American tourists whoms palate/life experiences/ idea of quality differs to those from Europe/Asia/Middle East. So if you are into quality...
Read moreI’ve had tiramisu all over Italy, but this one truly sets the bar. From the very first spoonful, you can taste the perfect balance — rich, velvety mascarpone cream layered over espresso-soaked ladyfingers that melt in your mouth. The coffee isn’t too bitter, the sweetness isn’t overpowering, and that light dusting of cocoa on top adds the perfect final touch.
Each bite feels like a little cloud of flavor — smooth, creamy, and full of depth. You can tell it’s made with care and tradition, not rushed or overly modernized. The texture is flawless: not soggy, not dry, just pure indulgence.
It’s the kind of dessert that makes you slow down and savor every moment — the perfect ending to a meal, or honestly, a reason to come here just for dessert.
If you think you’ve had good tiramisu before, think again — this one...
