Arrived at the hotel on the evening of the 8th October, travelled with a coach party with Edwards coaches. On arrival no welcome drink as stated, the owner was rather unpleasant just asked our name then took our passports off all of the group, had our key and said only one of you in the lift at a time the others just carry your luggage to your rooms. Some of us at to climb 40 stairs and more. There were elderly people who were using walking sticks or others that would have appreciated help because of some difficulty because of their age.|There was no help whatsoever, the lift was a farce only one person could use it at a time.|Our room wasn't much better, pillows on the bed was only about an inch thick, no tea and coffee making facilities, the coat hangers in the wardrobe was so mismatched that I had to remove some as the wardrobe door wouldn't close properly. |Checked out the bathroom the water was tepid had to run it for ages and it still didn't run cold, it took simply ages for the sink to empty even taking the plug out didn't help. The hairdryer was absolutely awful it looked like a hose off a vacuum cleaner with a small nozzle, tried to use it my hair was still soaking after half an hour and it made my hair so fuzzy, my husband had to hold the hose at an angle or it would stop working,it took two people to dry ones hair, that made me rush to go for my first evening meal. |Went down for our meal which was a set meal as it was the first night. It was dried up pasta which I refused, then came dried up veg with pork which was so thinly sliced you could virtually see through it and cold gravy. Afters was a very small shaped blancmange. There was a free bar from 6pm till 10pm and| free coffee and tea.At the tiny bar there was only one choice of bottled lager that came poured in a half pint glass that wasn't filled when asked to fill it as it should there were comments made, you had to pay if you wanted spirits and yet a free bar, after the 10 pm slot when it came to pay they filled the glass up. The coffee and tea came in small urns that was warm never hot, the milk that you used for the coffee and tea was awful it made it taste disgusting. There was no entertainment at the hotel, also there was only one toilet downstairs next to the kitchen that was used for both men and women, plus there was no lock, a few people in between their drinks walked all the way back to their room to use the toilet because of this.|When it came to breakfast that was just as bad, horrible milk a choice of two cereal, no toast on offer just a tiny packet of very hard dried crackers that could be buttered, the orange juice was a diluted squash, or you could just have the thin ham and cheese with bread. Not a normal continental breakfast that one would expect. Each evening meal was awful, everything dried up the portions so tiny it was cold, salty, just awful same with breakfast just awful food and cold coffee and tea, even the coach drivers complained to them. When we went on the excursions the coach party were buying their own food because they were so hungry| It was a horrible stay at the hotel. As for our passports the owner didn't even announce that we could collect them at the desk and they were left where anyone could have taken them they weren't even locked away.|After our stay on leaving there was no help for anyone with the luggage for the elderly, all of us struggled to bring it downstairs and there were 40 stairs for some of us. We did notice that they did leave a small basket on the desk with a thankyou note stuck to it which I thought a cheek. |I would not recommend this hotel to anyone it made a lot of people rather misserable. The proprietors of the hotel are not very...
Read moreI have just read the review submitted by flipper 38 I was on that very same trip myself and everything she said about the azzurra hotel was well said and completely accurate so I won't repeat what she had to say. However there are a few more points that I'd like to add. | This hotel is very poor with its appalling food and service There was no hospitality and the staff were not at all sociable there was a total lack of security with no one on duty all day and our passports were left unattended and could easily have been stolen there was no change of clean towels and on the third day i had to tell the cleaner to change them which she did I later found out that many of my fellow travellers did not have a change of towels at all during the whole of their stay this is totally unacceptable. On the Saturday I decided to give the day trip a miss and stay at the hotel there was no tea, coffee or water available as stated in the brochure and no one there to make it!! In fact the bottled water was in the dining room which was locked all day. These people are, in my opinion, not hoteliers but simple amateurs and my advice to travellers and indeed travel agents and tour operators is to give the Hotel Azzurra a wide berth a very wide...
Read moreThis is a family -run hotel. The owners are very cordial. Monica speaks English well so we didn't have any problems in communication. She was very willing to answer all our questions about the place and surrounding area. The room was big enough and bathroom was of decent size. We had a small balcony with mountain view. Everything was clean. We booked Half-board. Breakfast was the usual continental breakfast and I can say very good. Dinner was also nice. The waitresses don't speak English so it was quite funny to describe what we wanted for dessert. The hotel is near the beach. Everything was really nice and we can...
