A wonderful stay at the Hotel Present in Viareggio on the Tuscany coast:||We recently enjoyed a wonderful holiday to the lively resort of Viareggio on the Tuscany coast. We chose this resort as we wanted to have the best of both worlds - time to relax and time to explore some of the beautiful towns & cities in the region at an affordable price. Viareggio is perfectly placed to do all of this.||We stayed at the Hotel President & are planning to return next year as we found the hotel to be perfect for our needs & so comfortable. The staff were so helpful and special mention must be made to the following: Nadim, Elisa, Matilda, Franco & Laila. The breakfast was excellent with buffet choices, as well as a la carte selections. We also enjoyed an evening meal in the restaurant with excellent food and faultless service. The bar was a lovely setting for an aperitif or after dinner drinks and the service was nothing short of excellent! Restaurant and bar prices are very good compared to other hotels we have stayed in during our visits to Italy.||We booked a room with a balcony overlooking the seafront after reading other reviews and were so glad we made the decision! To be able to see the beach and promenade starting to come to life in the mornings, as well as the street market setting up on Thursday was wonderful. The room is itself was cleaned daily and fresh towels and bed linen were provided regularly.||We were able to visit Lucca, Pisa, Florence and Montecatini using the local train service and a visit to the upmarket resort of Forte dei Marmi was made using the local bus, with a stroll around the fashion market whilst we were there.||We...
Read moreWe had a great stay at this hotel. All the staff were very pleasant and helpful. We had a very comfortable room with a balcony to the side of the hotel with a view of the sea and the main promenade. This was very busy but good for people watching. The room was quiet when the balcony doors were closed at night. There was tea and coffee making facilities and a small fridge. There was no milk but there was no issue with us taking some from the breakfast room in a glass to keep in the fridge. The shower was good. Dressing gowns and slippers were provided. The breakfast was buffet with a la carte options including freshly squeezed orange juice which was very good. You could have various hot options freshly cooked, and they would make a cappuccino even though it only listed one coffee on the menu. The evening meal was all a la carte and there was plenty of choice, I was able to have filet mignon one night. It was all nicely presented and of good quality. The staff were knowledgeable about the dishes. As we were with Tui, 2 deckchairs and a parasol were included in our package. We just had to get tickets from reception and take them to the beach club. The beaches are private all along this area. The hotel was only a 15 minute walk from the railway station and it was easy to get trains to Pisa and Lucca. It was easy to book on the Trenitalia app. There are a couple of supermarkets within a 3-5 minute walk. There is also a bus stop about 100 metres from the hotel. We would...
Read moreThe hotel is so cool. Perfectly located on the main promenade, just accross the street you have the strand. Parking places are many on the streets and 8 euro a day charge is less that a pizza. The only minus if I may say so was the Covid reality and the reduced breakfast service. I really love the morning ritual of the breakfast where I go to the self service buffet and prepare my own breakfast. This time due to the Covid restrictions we were served by the hotel personel but it was tasty nevertheless.
The room service could take more care of vacuum cleaning the carpet. We were bringing a lot of sand daily with our shoes and towels although we really tried to shake it all off before entering the hotel. The carpet in our room was sandy so more vacuum cleaning could not do any harm ;-)
What else, what the good luck of having a room facing the main promenade so we could see the carnival parade enjoy cheese, olives, salami and wein out of the window.
In general a beautiful...
