Cafe Fappani — Restaurant in Unione dei comuni della Versilia

I've been here several times over the years but think this will now be my last.

My husband sat down this evening with our children for an aperitivo and I joined shortly after. He is not Italian speaking, I am. He had been treated poorly and struggled to get the attention of anyone to take an order. He ordered a beer €8, shop bought juice €5 and a small water €2.50. They forgot to bring the water (but managed to plonk a receipt down instantly with this charged on it). Other tables were given a few crisps and nuts - very basic at time for aperitivo but we were not. It was only when I arrived and asked for our water and for some snacks did they bother to do this. I ordered a spritz against my better judgement but my family were all having a drink which they brought quickly (€10) which they then demanded payment for immediately when he put it down saying some rubbish that it might rain and we might want to leave quickly.

Basically it's a rip off, poor service and dismissive staff. Drinks are fine. Nice location but not worth the cost and there are so many better, friendlier places in Viareggio. We left quickly and went to a bar a few doors down and ordered another beer and spritz and this came...

Ordered a drink at the bar to sit outside and have a smoke but refused to let me sit outside because I didn’t get “table service” wanted to smoke so couldn’t sit inside, so stood next to entrance with my drink which wasn’t exactly a comfy experience, was told I couldn’t stand there, proceeded to say I had no option as they wouldn’t let me sit outside because I ordered at the bar and just kept telling me I needed to move, I’ve never encountered such rudeness and such a lack of accommodation when you are putting money into a business. If u don’t want to support rude aholes then I would not go here purely as a matter of principal. The way I was treated was abysmal and nobody should suffer the embarrassment of having to stand at the entrance because they won’t let u sit down, and then be asked to move AGAIN. Even though I had no option because I wanted to enjoy a drink and a cigarette OUTSIDE, and not suffer time constraints waiting for service because I only had 20 minutes. Abysmal service and just straight up rude staff. They probably just wanted a tip, which you don’t get by being unaccomodating twts. I would give this place 0 stars if I had the option. What a terrible place. We went there at lunch time today. We asked the lady at the counter if we could sit outside and the told us that was fine. So we sat down and got the menu. I wasn't very hungry so I when I read "pastries" on the menu I decided to have a crème brulee. When I ordered it, the waiter told me that it's not possible to sit there if I wasn't going to order something from the menu (but it literally was on the menu). When my boyfriend ordered a pizza, the waiter agreed that I could stay at the table. He took away my napkin as if I didn't need that and later he realised that I might need it and gave it back.

Personally I think it's weird to say that I can't sit at the table when almost every table is empty.

They were so rude to a lot of people that came for lunch. I've seen a lot of them leaving without eating anything.

When we wanted to leave, we asked for the bill two times, but it took 15 minutes. When we wanted to get inside to pay, someone ran towards us with the bill. A pizza, a not even fresh crème brulee, a coke and a beer for 45 euro's......
