Pretty and very clean B&B on a small alley in old town Pienza which was our base in southern Tuscany.||The location was perfect to visit other towns and very quiet at night.||There is a small parking lot right next to the B&B which has 30 minutes limit but you can find plenty of parking places near by after you drop off your luggage.||The town is small so you can walk to the apartment after you park and it is nice walk in pretty little town anyway. Remember to park in white line.||Blue line for pay parking, yellow for residents and white for free parking.||The owner gives you a ticket for the breakfast which includes coffee and a pastry at near by coffee shop.||We stayed in three other places during our stay in Italy and this was the best place with good price.||Our apartment had wooden floor which I prefer over tile fllor and was very clean.||The owner Roberta seems like a person who likes arts and crafts and had some disply in her office and gave us a little farewell gift that she made.||She does not live there but has a office at the building and stays there during day time but we did not need her during our stay.||One minor thing that I missed was a hair dryer but it is very possible that it was there but I missed it since I did not find their kitchen stuff till the 2nd day of our stay.||They were inside of furniture...yes....inside.||You opened the lid of a furniture and there is your sink and stove.||Over all we had very nice stay...
Read moreMy family and I stayed here for almost a week on a recent trip to Pienza. When we checked in we were shown to a room on the top floor - bit of a hike up the steps but no problem for us. The room was very comfortable, with bedroom, sofa bed for our young daughter and roomy kitchen with dining table. The only issue was the relatively low ceiling heights, which weren't a problem for my wife and daughter but...well, the next day the proprietor offered to move us to an alternate and similarly appointed room/apartment, also on the top floor but with full ceiling heights and windows providing views of the utterly charming town. Breakfast was served in our room and was very good. Having the kitchen (well equipt) was also nice for practical reasons as we cooked a meal or 2 at 'home'. Other amenities included wifi, an ideal location on a quiet side street in the heart of the centro strorico, the views, etc. and the apartment was also clean and tidy. Finally, we were made to feel very welcome by our very kind host who even offered my wife and daughter some warmer clothes during an unseasonably cool couple of days during our stay. She was also readily available for advice on the delights of the area. Highly...
Read moreIl Giglio offers lovely accommodation in an historical building in the very heart of Pienza. Rooms are big and clean, beds are comfy and furniture totally in line with the style of the building. Free wi-fi is as always a plus and it was working perfectly even with multiple simultaneuos accesses.||Our bathroom was relatively small and not ‘shiny brand new’, but it was clean and fully functional. ||||Since they don’t have a dining area, breakfast was served directly to our room, at the time we asked. ||||At the entrance you can find a selection of teas and herbal teas, for you to enjoy for free. And in case you’re planning to have a pic-nic, you can order a pic-nic basket with local products and all what you need for the pic-nic (blanket, plates, cutlery…) for a very reasonable price (if I remember correctly, 25 euro)||||Special mention to the owners: they have been extremely nice and welcoming. ||I will definitely stay there again if I’ll be in Pienza...
