This little gem is right on the main high street just 3 minutes walk from the chair lift. Run by three sisters, it is charming and rustic. Only 20 rooms and gets booked up fast. We chose this because it has single rooms and some of our party wanted their own room (too old to share nowadays!). The half board includes a superb dinner with a different three course menu every night, preceded by a “surprise” appetizer and ending with the amazing cheese board. A great wine list too. Breakfast was a help yourself buffet but also hot breakfast if you wanted. Staff friendly and helpful throughout. There is a ski room with heated boot rack so all very convenient. Our room was spacious, and the bed was comfortable. En-suite bathroom with good strong shower. Little niggle – no hook on back of bathroom door so nowhere to hang your dressing gown when showering, and nowhere to hang your shower cap to dry afterwards (I had to use the door handle). Some nice toiletries provided, and a good hairdryer. Clean towels every day. This hotel was perfect for our needs and we couldn’t fault it. But book ahead, it’s very popular!||||Quick note on Cervinia itself. Firstly, superb bar over the road (Lo Copa Pan). We spent rather a lot of time in there as we had two days with no skiing due to the high winds and heavy snow (avalanche risk). We never got to Zermatt as the connection was closed all week due to strong winds. Great resort for intermediates- lots of long wide blues and reds. Experts may get a bit bored. Infrastructure could be better. Also, if you love honey, check out the honey shop – brought some...
Read moreThe Mignon Hotel is a wonderful wonderful place in Cervinia in the Aosta Valley nestling high in the Italian Alps under the mighty Matterhorn. The views are spectacular! We have just returned from staying there for a two week ski holiday. The hotel is 5 minutes walk from the Cretaz Ski lift which gives access to a huge range of slopes that should suit all abilities. We managed to ski for 12 of our 13 days and loved every minute. The hotel itself is full of character, very very comfortable and there’s nothing not to like!! There is a very convenient boot room for storing your skis and drying off your boots. The rooms are welcoming and very well kept. The chef is truly amazing and the quality of food and service is of the highest standard. Luca and Francesca in the restaurant are very knowledgeable about local produce, wine and cheese; and you couldn’t ask to be looked after and better. The attention to detail throughout reflects how much love Christiana, her two sisters and their families have invested in this real gem of a hotel. Nothing was too much trouble!! This was our second visit and we will definitely be back. If you are looking for great skiing in a high Italian resort and a great hotel close to bars, shops and amenities then look no further than The Mignon...
Read moreMyself and my 2 kids were skiing in Cervinia and stayed at the Hotel Mignon for 5 nights. Hotel Mignon is a family run traditional 3 star hotel located on the Main Street of the town. We had a quadruple room which had ample space for 3 but may be tight four. ||The location was excellent. We were less than 100m from the ski lifts, ski rental and ski school. It allowed us to take a mid-day break and hit the slopes again after a lunch time rest. The hotel staff were exceptionally friendly and welcoming. The hotel has a ski/ boot room that is easy to access off the front entrance. Snacks are served in the reception area every evening from 5pm. ||Several good restaurants were a short walk away. We ate at Grivola, Sotto Zero, Ymeletrob and grabbed mid-day snacks at Black Hole. We got a taxi from the airport with TTT Servizi di Terenzio De Fazio, we rented equipment from Skiset 2.0, and took lessons with Scuola Sci del Cervino. Would...
