Bistrot Convivial — Restaurant in Valtournenche

Me and my son were lucky to get a table walking in to the Bistro at lunch time without reservation (especially because google told us the restaurant wasn’t open). The personnel welcomed us warmly and we were seated to a table. We ordered beef Pierrade and Bourguignonne, grilled vegetables and french fries. Beer and sprite for the drinks. The food came fast even if the Bistro was full of customers. The vegetables were grilled just right, the french fries were better than average, bourguignonne was good (although we were not quite sure how long we should’ve boiled the meet) and the pierrade was just delicious!! And it was fun to grill it on the table. The 6 sauces were very tasty, the orange (chili), yellow (hollandaise we assumed) and black pepper sauce were our favorites! We shared the food and left nothing - except the bread, which we took with us when we left (first time for us ever). We decided that if we have a chance we’ll come back and order pierrade for both of us and also try other things from the menu (and have some red wine with the pierrade). We didn’t take desert only because we had already booked a four course dinner for the same evening elsewhere which we couldn’t cancel anymore. Absolutely brilliant place, it gets my high recommendation. For a lunch, we paid 93€ which is admittedly on the high side. My son asked me was it worth it, and I answered that given the quality of the food and the great service and experience yes it was. I wish we had dinner there but unfortunately we were leaving the next day. Thank You once more for the great food and service! 5 stars...

Decent place with nice atmosphere, but it's quite small inside. It obviously is popular and we waited for days.

However each of the type of menu feels like.. a miniature version, a quick tour of them: cheese fondue(too watery), raclette(where is the cheese?), water(chinese one, no taste.) oil fondue(which tastes the best in my opinion, but i have not tried the authentic one).., everything but all at 50% of authenticity. The sauces sre amazing though.

Incredible! Must visit if you are around the area. There is cheese fondue and selection which we didn’t have but they had a “cook-your-own-meat” (pierrade) and it was incredibly good! You’d cook it yourself and then put one of the 7 sauces they gave! It tasted soo good and the wait time was very short! The cheesecake was great as well! I put Nutella on top and it was increedible! Great food! Service was great, helpful. The place is a bit small but the music is nice Overall...
