Venice Rainbow Apartments (San Marco) — Hotel in Venice

This place is a gimcrack and I felt scammed (I booked it through Booking). |I payed almost 400€ for three nights in a room with a shared toilet. ||The owner is an educated Arabic man who doesn’t care about the clients and will charge you 10€ to allow you to use your bed linens (yes, I also never saw something like that around the world... you have to rent the bed linens!). The bedroom is jerry-built and you will find:||- an small damaged sign next to the door (you will spend a lot of time trying to find this place because Google Maps doesn’t work properly).|- a cheap metallic bed which creak a lot with a very hard mattress. Nothing comfortable. |- a cheap bedcover of 5 mm thickness in an almost winter time (my dog have a better one to sleep).|- old fashioned and ugly furniture.|- damaged heating system (prepare yourself for cold nights).|- a lot of silly rules (you can’t do anything).|- a dirty kitchen with two glasses who doesn’t have microwave, where isn’t allowed to use the dishwasher and with a broken washing machine. |- a noisy area from early morning (you can’t enjoy a nice sleep).|- view to a common backyard (I wasn’t paying nice money for a nice view neither).||And the icing of the cake... you will shower in a dirty place where the heating doesn’t work!!! ||In my three days I didn’t see any cleaning staff so, you can imagine how unsanitary is this place because you share the toilet with a lot of people (like in a youth hostel).||Don’t worry about the location in Venice because the public transport works even during night time. In my first time I stayed in Giudecca and my experience was much better and I payed a lot less.||So... I hope you can find a better place to stay and keep away from...

Do not stay here!! From start to finish (total of 8 hours) horrible experience. First, the emails told us we could drop off our bags early since we got to Venice before check in. Upon arrival at 9am, no one was present and someone who we think didn’t even work there let us in. When we got came back later to check in, the front desk lady literally scolded us for arriving too early and for thinking that there would be someone there to help us. We didn’t realize that 9am was apparently too early for a hotel. Our room and the 2 shared bathrooms were nice and seemed clean, but around 12:30 A.M. on first night we discovered there were bedbugs living behind the headboard. Immediately we packed up all of our stuff and left, since there was no staff present in the building (although there was a random stranger sleeping on the couch, possible safety concern?). The next day we went back and told the staff about the problem. The man at the front desk did offer us another room, but we had already decided to stay in another hotel. We asked for a refund for the full reservation but they only refunded the rest of the 2 days we were supposed to stay there and refused to refund our first night because we didn’t show any signs of bedbug bites. Keep in mind we left to find another hotel before actually sleeping in the bed. If we would have stayed the night, I’m certain we would have had bites. Overall, it was a nice gesture to offer us another room but we had a terrible experience. We instead stayed at the Hotel Le Isole which we would highly recommend! Stay away...

If you want to end up covered in bedbug bites this is the place for you.

I booked this place on Hostelworld because the location looked convenient, and it really was! That was the only benefit of this place, however.

First of all, the room my sister and I slept in did not fit the description of the images on Hostelworld at all.

Second, the bedbugs. The first night I could not sleep due to intense itchiness and woke up the next day with several bites. I read on Google reviews that a previous guest had brought up bedbug bites, but the host responded that their window was open and they were mosquito bites from the lagoon. My window was not open, but I thought I'd give it the benefit of the doubt. The second night, though, the same thing happened and I could not sleep at all. I spotted several bed bugs on my sheets and I had even more bites. It was the same case for my sister.

I let the host know about this and he offered to switch our beds, but that does not make sense because the bedbugs infest inside the mattresses, how could he be so sure they weren't on the other beds? And changing the sheets is not good enough. I ended up having to spend more money on a new hotel and asked for a refund, but obviously I did not get one.

I know there are various reviews where the host bullies people and calls them liars, but I've attached pictures so that you can see I'm not a liar.

Just spend your money somewhere else, or you'll end up paying even more than...
