Firstly to address the many complaints about the hot water pressure. It’s not a problem at all. It’s not super strong but it’s more than enough to have a decent shower under. It is a little difficult having to mix the cold/hot water to get just the right temperature but this is very subjective.
Secondly, about the thin walls. Also not a problem. Maybe we got lucky with considerate neighbours but it has never got to the point where we can hear them. There’s the occasional loud movements but it’s so infrequent, and certain never late at night.
Overall, I love the proximity to a number of attractions and cafes along the northern shore of Five Lakes. We drove so it’s even more convenient but we just walk to the konbini which is less than 10s away from the entrance.
They also offer rental bikes at discounted rate for guests for those relying on public transport.
For those who are here specifically for sakura, this place is ideal to catch the sakura festival (which has night illumination). You just walk (or bike or drive) over. Easy. It’s also right next door to two cafes for lounging.
They do not offer daily housekeeping. I think it’s only on Tues so if this is concerning for you, stay away.
For the price point and all the perks, you really shouldn’t be complaining. For those who do, perhaps toughen up and just pay for a...
Read moreIt's a nice hostel. The rooms are very cozy and the beds are comfortable. The quality of the amenities is great. It is true that the shower pressure is low, but not low enough to have real issues to take a shower, you'll be good. I didn't find the temperature hard to regulate either. You can see the Fuji from the window if it's not cloudy. The staff are friendly and will try their best to communicate if you are not a japanese speaker. They also offer rides to the kawaguchiko station or anywhere near the main village of kawaguchiko really, which is a big thumbs up for me. You can tell the staff are always willing to improve. The only things I didn't like about the hostel: if you like to go to sleep very very early, there is a stupid traffic light that is going to be whistling until 10pm and you will of course hear it. If not, you're fine. Also, I think this hotel is great if you own a car, since it's kind of halfway from kawaguchi and the other part of the village. If you don't, you'll have to walk. A lot. If you are fine with it, then it's not going to be a problem. So I think it's nice the staff offer rides, it's messy to go back to the station with the bags. It has a bus stop nearby to go back to kawaguchi if you need it. The lake is a 2min walk. There are some good restaurants nearby and two...
Read moreWe had booked this hotel for 2 nights but added an extra night (good communication from hotel to our enquiry to extend) as our plans changed slightly. After 2 torrential rainy days and a typhoon we woke on our last morning to an amazing view of Fuji out the window. The hotel is a little out of town (10 min bus ride) next to an art and a music museum and 5 mins from a lakeside walk with amazing views of Fuji (if it isn't in clouds) There are a couple of restaurants nearby and a 7eleven and Lawson for snacks. The rooms are all on one side on the first floor looking towards the lake and Fuji and on the landing is a fridge, microwave and kettle with tea and coffee. The girl on reception was very welcoming and helpful about getting buses and finding food etc.||Our room was big with 2 beds, table and chairs and tv. Beds and the bathroom were clean but the desk and tv were a bit dusty. ||Overall a good hotel choice...
