Hakone Field Resort is a lovely quiet little guesthouse. I thought the cute potted flowers outside and the little origami in our rooms gave the place a cute homely vibe.

The owners are husband and wife are very friendly, who greeted us at the door and even help to bring our luggage to our room. We were made to feel welcome. The owner was super helpful with giving us information about the area as he is English-speaking. He even kindly helped bring our luggage to our next location nearby.

We chose Hakone Field Resort due to its proximity to a driving experience Fun2Drive located nearby. We caught the Odakyu bus from Shinjuku station and Hakone Field Resort is only a short walk from the bus stop on the main road. There are several 7-11's nearby and quite a number of local restaurants and cafes within walking distance. The owner was able to recommend a few favourites of theirs - we had a great meal at Daichi thanks to his suggestion.

The reception has lots of information on highlights in Hakone area as well as free tea/coffee and two vending machines, if you're in need of a snack. They don't do room service but plenty of options elsewhere as I previously mentioned.

Our room was quite sizeable with 2 comfortable double beds and lots of space to sit and relax. It was clean and had several amenities including coin laundry in the same building (Albeit entrance is outside).

Our stay at Hakone Field Resort was very enjoyable and we look forward to visiting again in the future. I recommend this accommodation if you're looking for an affordable, clean, quiet and well furnished place with great service, to stay while...

Location - the hotel is located in the village of Sengoku which is only accessible by bus, not train. Consequently, the place was relatively quiet, and had the most 'authentic' sense of charm we encountered on our trip. However, this did mean there was a lack of places to eat - there were plenty of unique restaurants and 2-3 food shops within walking distance of the hotel. Additionally, the quiet location did not mean we were limited in terms of activities or sightseeing. The 'big ticket experiences' in Hakone (e.g. Lake Ashi boat cruise, Hakone Ropeway, etc) were only a 15/20 min bus trip away, and the bus service across Hakone is very good. We found getting around very easy.||||Room - a huge room that was honestly the cleanest I have ever stayed in and extremely comfortable. All amenities were modern and in perfect working condition. Additional blankets and pillows provided. New reverse-cycle air con meant we could keep the room perfectly cozy. ||||Hosts - a beautiful couple who honestly made our stay. Nothing was too much! They dried our wet shoes when we arrived in the snow, helped us with our washing, and assisted in planning our activities for our 2 days based on the weather. With their help we were able to curate 2 full days of amazing sightseeing that we would not have been able to achieve without their local knowledge. ||||Would recommend in...

Field Hakone was just what we were looking for. We wanted to be a little bit away from the hustle and bustle and stay in something Japanese style. The Field Hakone felt integrated with the quiet community and only a 7 minute walk to the bus station. ||Keep in mind, the accommodations are very simple and if I could suggest anything, it would be better sound proofing as I could hear the neighbors muffled talking and some faint snoring. It wasn’t a major issue but thought I’d mention to set expectations. ||The staff was beyond amazing and the place so clean. They even wiped off the wheels of our suitcases.||When we arrived, they spent ample time helping us understand all the great things to do. During our two night stay, anytime we had a question whether it was which bus stop to go to a destination or where to eat, they were over the top helpful. As an example when we decided to go to the Korean BBQ restaurant (which was excellent), they pulled their car around to drop us a short distance because it was dark and a little rainy.||If you are up for a clean, basic accommodation with wonderful service, this...

Every time I look at the orizuru, it pulls back the memory of the Hakone in April. I have to say that the stay and travel in Hakone was the best experience I have ever had so far across Japan. The owner of Field Hakone Resort truly deserves a medal from the Hakone Tourism Association. The room was cozy, warm, very clean. The parking is just outside the building. Frankly, we were shocked that the owner helped us to clean the wheels of our luggage. You can see how much they care about the hygiene and keeping the floor clean for every customer. They prepared everything you need in the room for your stay. You will also receive detailed sightseeing info/advice based on the weather/season from the owner. The Fuji Reien is really a great place for seeing the sakura! The only thing I regret was I should have booked a longer stay. But how long will be enough? We will definitely visit Hakone again in a different season one day! I wish you all the best!

We arrived at Field Hakone quite early and unlike the other hotels we have been to around Japan, we were able to check-in early. The owner helped us carry our luggage up the staircase and was very helpful offering assistance and showing us around the room. The room was very plain but perfect for a couple of nights stay and was much larger then most of the rooms we have had for our Japan Trip. Very clean, the beds were very comfortable and we had a good night's sleep. There is also plenty of information on where to eat and also for those that don't have a car how to travel with the buses and where to go. The only thing if I had to be picky would be the curtains not great at blocking the sun out in the morning and there were no power points located near the beds.
