We stayed here for 2 nights when we picked up our son from Japanese Center for Michigan Universities that is in Hikone. It’s a fine place to stay - very affordable, clean, with surprisingly spacious rooms. Bathrooms are equipped with soap, shampoo, and conditioner. Rooms had a small fridge, and the hotel itself is steps away from the train station, and shops and restaurants. Hikone Castle is a 15 minute walk away. Breakfast was typical Japanese breakfast, but eggs and sausage (kind of hot-dog like) were available as well. Staff was helpful and pleasant. They spoke some English, but we used google translate and that worked, no problem.||There was a cigar bar in the lobby that was kind of cool to have a drink at - it’s super smoky (of course, cigar bar) so we didn’t stay long, but had a nice glass of wine and single malt scotch whisky. ||Also they sold these super cute tea towels, that have Hikone-nyan, the town mascot, on them, and say “welcome to Hikone”. I am going to reach out to the hotel to order more of them, because they were a huge hit with friends and family as gifts :) If I’m ever in Hikone again, would def stay...

My friend and I were also happy with how clean the rooms and hotel are kept over all. The clean towel system they have is handy. The location was close to the train, shopping, restaurants, and Hikone castle.

Read moreVery close to Hikone station, and the road is mostly sheltered so the walk to hotel is easy. Hikone castle is within walking distance too, and hotel guests can rent their bikes for free! The most basic room is quite small but has everything I need, although the bathtub size cannot allow an adult to fully stretch the limbs.
Friendly and efficient service, I love shopping at the hotel store, so many cute hikone cat souvenirs ( and other specialties from Shiga). I booked about 3 weeks in advance and the price...
