I recently stayed at ISOLA伊豆高原 and had a wonderful experience. The facility is well-maintained, and the rooms are spacious and comfortable, providing a relaxing environment.
It's important to note that there is no elevator or escalator; access to rooms is via stairs only, which might be challenging for individuals with mobility restrictions or elderly guests.
The hotel features two onsen baths, but during my last two visits, only one was available. They offer exclusive bath use, which feels luxurious but can be inconvenient if the bath is occupied. Fortunately, both times I visited, it was free to use, but I can imagine potential waiting times, as mentioned in other reviews.
A thoughtful and unique touch is their additional service offering a wide variety of toiletries, soaps, and shampoos to choose from. It's a small detail, but it shows great care and consideration for guests’ preferences.
The staff is exceptionally friendly and accommodating, enhancing the overall experience. There's a free shared space available, which was convenient for working on my laptop, with plenty of power outlets provided. They offer 24-hour complimentary drink bar service, though the coffee machine incurs an extra charge.
The rooftop offers amazing views, with mountains on one side and the Izu sea on the other, making it a perfect spot to unwind.
Overall, ISOLA伊豆高原 is a great choice for a quick visit to Izu. I haven't tried the breakfast yet, but it looks appealing, and there's also a BBQ option available. I look forward to experiencing these on...
Read moreRoom: Spacious, with a perfect ocean view. I felt at home the moment I walked in! The amenities were well-prepared. The soundproofing was okay, but it was quiet at night, so no issues.
Although the room only has a toilet and you need to take a bath in the onsen, I was totally fine with it! What makes it even better is that after 9 PM, you can actually have the public bath all to yourself.
Breakfast: Very tasty, featuring local fish. It’s even better than a buffet because the food quality is excellent.
Facilities & Atmosphere: There are plenty of things to enjoy here—you can even borrow a telescope for free! It was my first time using one, so I wasn’t very good at it, haha, but I had a lot of fun. The staff even lit a campfire! 🔥
Plus, there’s a free drink bar in the lobby offering soft drinks and water! A water dispenser is surprisingly rare in Japan, so I really appreciated this.
From the rooftop deck, you can also see Mt. Omuro.⛰️
Staff & Service: I read a review from an American complaining that the staff couldn't speak English, and I found it ignorant and arrogant. Why should everyone be expected to speak English? This is Japan! You can just use Google Translate. I’m not Japanese, but I felt very comfortable here.
The only small downside was that the staff at checkout seemed a bit indifferent—she didn’t say anything, not even a simple greeting. It felt a little too cold for...
Read moreI recently checked into Isola Hotel with high hopes, but encountered a few challenges right from the start. The most notable issue was the language barrier at the reception. Unfortunately, the staff, including the receptionist, didn’t speak English and there was no translator available, which made communication quite difficult.
The hotel has a unique bathing setup, featuring communal onsen baths instead of private showers in the rooms. While this is culturally intriguing, it presented a significant inconvenience during my stay. The hotel has two onsens, but only one was operational. The lack of time restrictions for guests using the onsen led to long waiting times. I found myself waiting for over an hour between 8 to 9 PM without a chance to bathe, as one guest occupied the onsen for an extended period.
On the bright side, the design and vibe of the hotel do offer a serene and authentic experience. You have a rooftop view to a volcano and to the ocean, where you can also see the stars at night. However, the bathing situation might be a downside for travelers who prefer more privacy...
