We were there right after the typhoon 19th that had a big impact to many Japanese people. For that reason, I believe that there were a lot of cancellations and it was not as busy as we expected. We took comfort ourselves of being part of the 'move the economy force', which was also required at those hard times. We spent a couple of nights at the Itoen Hotel 'Honkan' -Whihs is the main one. The package included both dinner buffet with drinks and breakfast buffet. It is true that it is an old hotel in the middle of the resort region, but very traditional for the locals. We opted to use the Japanese style tatami-room which was big for the 2 of us. We had the plan to enjoy the hot springs and the food. And enjoy we did. Itoen Hotels in Ito has 3 in the same road. Because we were staying in one, we could enter the other hotels hot springs.. Eventually we tried 9 indoor hot springs and 3 outdoor hot springs. The dinner buffet was excellent with plenty of sashimi, sushi, noodles and by chance, we were there during the 'beef steak festival' and the chef was cooking a mouth-melting pieces of real wagyu. Beer and sake were free, but with so much food to try, there was no time for drinks. Breakfast was another nice experience with tiny portions of everything. I could not believe how many variety of sashimi we had for breakfast. In all, it was a great getaway after my 2 weeks of work in Japan. I would not mind staying again, next time, I would try the western...

Read moreThere are three Itoen hotels on the street and it is free to use the twelve onsen of the three hotels. I have stayed in all three hotels - Itoen, Itoen Annex and Itoen Matsumurakan. ||||Let me do the ranking of the different aspects below.||Rent with two meals: 1. Itoen Annex (6,800yen) 2. Itoen and Matsu (both 7,800yen)||Outward appearance: 1. Matsu 2. Itoen 3. Annex||Lobby: 1. Matsu 2. Itoen 3. Annex||Garden: 1. Matsu (no garden for the other two)||Room condition: 1. Itoen 2. Annex 3. Matsu||Dinner: 1. Matsu 2. Itoen 3. Annex||Onsen: 1. Itoen 2. Matsu 3. Annex||Service: All good||Wifi: lobby only for all three||||I would say everything is great for Matsumurakan except the condition of the rooms. They are a bit old. Itoen has better rooms but the common areas are not as beautiful and the buffet dinner were not as good as Matsumurakan. Overall, for the price, all three hotels are of great value. I would recommend Matsumurakan and Itoen. The Annex looks more like a business hotel to me than a...
