It was late in the evening and my family of four were famished after a long day of travel and sight-seeing.
Without a booking, we were fortunate to be welcomed by the owner who managed to find us a table within a few minutes, despite the restaurant bustling with both local and international diners.
We were recommended a selection of dishes that catered to our diverse taste palette - raw, grilled and steamed. In addition to our delightful gastronomical experience, we had the memorable experience of grating fresh wasabi at our table, whose aromatic flavoured paired wonderfully with the sashimi platter he offered. The wasabi was unlike the type that 'sets your head on fire', with an overwhelming pungence that forgoes the ability to enjoy any accompanying seafood or sashimi.
We are thankful for the owner's generosity. His culinary passion and attentiveness was greatly reflected in the quality and quantity of his food.
I would also like to thank him for running after us in the carpark with an item my child had left behind in the restroom!
A 10/10 experience that left us all deeply satisfied, including the pickiest eaters - the youngest being 12 and the eldest 75...
Read moreWe discovered this restaurant based on online recommendations, and it surpassed all expectations. To start, we ordered the Golden Snapper set meal, tea-infused rice, and dumplings. Each dish was exceptionally delicious, fresh, and beautifully presented on small plates and bowls.
The Golden Snapper was incredibly fresh with firm, flavorful flesh. The dumplings were fried to a perfect crisp on the outside while the filling inside was tender and juicy, creating a delightful texture. The tea-infused rice was wonderfully aromatic, and the salmon and seaweed mixed in added a delightful twist.
The biggest surprise came with the complimentary dessert, a local specialty of chilled tofu, which we absolutely loved. We were so impressed that when we tried to pay an extra tofu, the restaurant generously brought us another one.
The service was exceptional with very attentive and friendly staff who promptly provided utensils for each dish as per our party size. The entire dining experience made our trip particularly memorable and enjoyable. Highly...
Read moreThis restaurant was my most exceptional Meal in Japan. We sat at the bar looking into the eyes of examples of the fish we would eat. The bar even had fresh wasabi growing in a little water channel around the bar.
The set meals at the back of the menu are banquets and great value for £20. The main dish came with plates and plates of small appetisers, vegtables, pickles, savoury egg pudding (an acquired taste for some, but I like it), along with the obligatory rice and miso soup all finished with a desert.
I had the golden eye snapper as my main, this isn't a real snapper it's a deep sea fish that appears to be a specialty of Ito which still has an active fishing fleet. I think it was poached in sweet soy sauce and ginger and it was probably the most delicious fish dish I've ever eaten. Perfectly cooked and so easy to eat with chopsticks.
The owner was lovely throughout and offered tastes of both sweet and dry sakes to accompany the meal. The dry one, was the best sake I...
