I recently stayed at the Solaria Nishitetsu Hotel in Kagoshima, and it was an exceptional experience. This hotel is perfect for all types of travelers—solo adventurers, business professionals, or families exploring Kyushu. Prime Location: The hotel’s location is unbeatable, situated directly above the Kagoshima Chuo bus terminal, making it incredibly convenient for catching the airport shuttle or long-distance buses to Fukuoka and other destinations. The JR station and Shinkansen are just across the street, connected by a user-friendly underground passageway filled with popular restaurants bustling with diners. This vibrant dining scene adds a lively atmosphere and plenty of meal options steps away from the hotel. Additionally, a large Lawson convenience store on the first floor facing the street is perfect for grabbing snacks, drinks, or travel essentials at any time. Spacious and Comfortable Rooms: The rooms are impressively spacious for Japanese standards, a refreshing change from typical compact accommodations. The bathroom setup was a highlight, featuring a luxurious soaking tub and a separate shower—a rare treat! The bed was comfortable, ensuring a great night’s sleep, and each room includes a cozy sofa perfect for lounging, eating, or watching TV. Depending on your room’s location, you might enjoy a stunning view of Sakurajima volcano, which added a special touch to my stay. Top-Notch Amenities: The amenities were outstanding. The lobby offers complimentary toiletries like shavers and toothbrushes, and each floor has free water dispensers and ice machines, which were super convenient. Coin-operated laundry facilities on the 10th and 12th floors were a lifesaver for longer stays. The rooms were spotlessly clean, and the staff maintained a high standard of hygiene throughout the property. Service and Value: The staff were courteous and efficient, always ready to assist with a smile. Check-in and check-out were seamless, and the front desk provided helpful tips for exploring Kagoshima. The hotel offers excellent value for money, balancing affordability with premium features that cater to a wide range of travelers. Final Thoughts: The Solaria Nishitetsu Hotel Kagoshima is a traveler’s dream, combining convenience, comfort, and thoughtful amenities. With its prime location, vibrant dining options nearby, and the handy Lawson store, it’s hard to beat. I would absolutely stay here again on my next trip to Kagoshima and highly recommend it to anyone...
Read moreMy husband and I (retired seniors) stayed in Solaria Nishitetsu Hotel Kagoshima for three nights this month. As this was our first trip to Japan, we were a bit nervous with everything. We arrived Kagoshima on the shinkansen from Osaka. The trip was four hours and to our delight and joy, the hotel was right opposite the train station and you couldn't miss it. It was very convenient to go to the hotel by the overhead pass or on the ground as there were zebra crossings and very safe. Check-in was easy as the receptionist helped us. We were on the 14th floor corner room with the view of the city (the big ferris wheel and the train station). The room was pretty small but we expected that in Japan. Cleanliness was the #1. There were amenities in the Lobby (tea, coffee, toothbrushes, razors, face masks and more). This was all on the third floor. You have to take two lifts in this hotel. The normal lift from ground floor to third floor where the Reception is, and then another one to get you to your room. Staff were extremely polite. There is a Lawson's on the ground floor where you can get everything. The bus terminal is also on the ground floor behind the hotel in the same building. There are numerous shops across the hotel, restaurants, a big supermarket and eateries. It was super convenient to buy food, souvenirs and lots of Japanese cookies to take back home. The train station (for the shinkansen and the local) is in the same building as the department store and the other shops. I would highly recommend this hotel if you want to be close to the train station and shops. Thank you Solaria Nishitetsu Hotel for a pleasant stay and making us feel at home...
Read moreI arrived at the hotel late at night, exhausted after a long journey, only to be greeted by a shockingly unhygienic room. The bed was absolutely filthy — covered in hair and stains of blood on the pillow. It was appalling to see such a lack of basic cleanliness, something that should be the bare minimum in any hotel, let alone one with such positive reviews.||I immediately informed the front desk, and while they did move me to another room, the damage was already done. The explanation I received from management the next morning was not only inadequate but also insulting. The manager, Ishimatsu, did not see any issue with the situation and claimed that the blood was from staff with “cuts on their hands” — an excuse that was both unprofessional and unacceptable.||Furthermore, I was informed by another staff member the night of the incident that the cleaning is outsourced to a third-party company with no supervision from the hotel itself. This lack of oversight explains the appalling condition of the room but does not excuse it.||Despite the room change, I couldn’t sleep properly for the rest of the night, and my stay was completely ruined. To make matters worse, they refused to offer any compensation, stating that moving rooms was sufficient. This level of disregard for guest comfort and hygiene is unacceptable, and I would advise future travelers to think twice before...
