This new Toyoko Inn just opened in Feb. It is just a couple of blocks from the train station, which is also the place to catch various trams and buses, including the City View Sightseeing Bus. The shopping mall attached to the station has numerous restaurants and a food court with dozens of tasty options for a quick meal or snack.||||The receptionist who greeted us at checkin spoke very good English. Other staff was less comfortable in English, but were diligent and eager to help, so that we managed to get what we needed on every visit to the desk. They provided the free use of an ethernet cable, so that we could use the high-speed internet connection in our room. There were also guest computers available in the lobby.||||Our non-smoking twin room was small, with no view, but was well laid-out, efficient, quiet and comfortable. The over-sized twin beds had very nice linens and fat, comfortable pillows. The air-conditioning worked well, and there was plenty of hot water in the private bathroom. Amenities included toothbrush kits, razors, combs, and a nice, gender-specific kit of samples of skin care products. (Don't know what is in the men's kit!) Soap and shampoo were in a wall dispenser over the shower.||||The free breakfast buffet was plentiful, but dull: 4 types of tasteless rice balls, miso soup, pickled vegetables, omelet, rolls, bread, and a pot of steamed rice. The coffee was good, and so was the fried tofu. We were glad to save the time and money of finding breakfast elsewhere.||||Upon checkout, the hotel sent my largest suitcase ahead to another Toyoko Inn where we would be staying two days later. That was a tremendous convenience for...

Read moreWe recently stayed at this hotel for 4 nights.||The hotel is located about 3 to 4 minutes walk from the main railway station and Shinkansen line, local bus terminal and sightseeing buses. The trams actually run past the front door. Access to the station can be largely undercover via an arcade/mall opposite.||Check in and out is super efficient and the accommodation includes breakfast (Japanese), coffee etc, free WIFI, computers in the lobby, laundry facilities (coin operated) etc. All in all very good value for money.||The room we had did not have a view, in fact the window had frosted glass on it to block out the illumination from an outside light at night time. The window could be opened. All in all it was not a major problem, given that we were only in the room to shower and sleep.||The off-setting 'big plus' was a built in robe which we have never encountered before at a Toyoko Inn. The trouser press was housed in the BIR.||As always, the beds were of very generous size and very firm, which is heaven for those of us who like a firm mattress.||The bathroom module was of standard size, which is small by western standards but not Japanese, and with alll the usual fittings. ||Like all these establishments, cleanliness of the highest order.||For a hotel so close to all...
