All the reviews I read about this place mention the host's gracious hospitality so I won't repeat this except to say how much we appreciated the warm welcome.
The home itself is a wonderful place to stay if you want to experience a traditional Japanese home. There are plenty of blankets and mattresses so we were warm and comfortable sleeping on the floor in November. We did not run the heater at night (we are Canadian) but turned it on before we got out of bed in the morning and the room heated quickly.
The toilet room has its own heater which is motion activated so it's warm during the day. My kids were impressed that the toilet flushes automatically!
The kitchen is well supplied, including oil, soy sauce, salt, rice cooker, and a few snacks on arrival. There were also bottles of water in the fridge for each of us, although the tap water tastes nice since its from a mountain spring.
The amenities are lovely and the little touches - like a box of tissues in every room or snacks on the table at arrival or the host's personal restaurant recommendations - were so appreciated.
This place is 2 minutes walk from the Nagamachi samurai district and 7 minutes from the main Street that goes up to the castle & garden (1 km diagonally from here).
