There are not enough stars or even words to describe my experience at Home. This place does not seem like a business at all, it is more like being welcomed home by a caring mother, which also happens to be an otherworldly talented cook. Furthermore, the price is so cheap that it does not feel right for the quality and dedication you get.
It is really obvious that this establishment is not run for money but rather for the passion for cooking and hospitality by the lady who singlehandedly runs the whole place.
We went there for lunch and we immediately decided to come back for dinner too. So, I had the privilege to taste a good part of the menu.
The food is something beyond belief. Everything is cooked so perfectly that it seems to be the result of a thousand years of culinary research. Every dish we tried, it being meat, fish, soups or sides, has its own unique signature taste and texture, everything's different and some flavors we had never experienced before. It was a culinary journey, a trip within our trip.
The atmosphere is super cozy, welcoming, authentic and quiet. The lady really cares for all the customers and enjoys pleasant conversations while cooking and serving. She is very kind and respectful, to an extent that is almost impossible to match these days.
I feel like a could write another thousand words and still fail to describe enough how valuable our visits here were. It earned a permanent place in our hearts and we will happily remember this experience forever.
Kanazawa is a wonderful place to visit, but even if it weren't, Home would worth a visit...
Read moreSuch an intimate and delicious experience! Felt right at home, and the chef is also the owner and server. Her English is amazing, and she loved talking to us about her travels in Australia (our home), but it was great to also practice our Japanese and pay respect to her language and culture. Her food is even better! We had a 6 dish meal with free rice and miso for $10Aud - just insane! We wanted to tip but it’s rude in their culture. Located in tiny back streets super close to the Naga-Machi (old samurai) district, both locals and tourists were dining. She’s a favourite amongst her own neighbourhood! A truly special, authentic and amazing venue, with the loveliest host ever. 10/10 recommend, she deserves every 5 star...

Tarko is the consummate owner as chef, server and chief bottle washer! Her food is amazing, and we can say that with certainty, because we tried it all: radishes, bean sprouts with sesame, eggplant, lotus root, and sweet potato.
Then the mains were equally phenomenal: salmon collar, perfectly fried chicken wings and delicious — the star of the show! — pork with miso.
We drank sake, whisky and plum wine and ended with a sweet dessert.
End-to-end, this is an amazing experience, and as others said, feels like you are eating at your aunt’s...
