A Memorable Stay with Exquisite Kaiseki Dining in Arima
We arrived at the hotel in Arima just as the last sunlight faded, navigating through charming narrow streets to the tight parking area. Despite the tricky parking, we were warmly welcomed by the staff and quickly settled in. One of the highlights of our stay was the onsen, which featured a small outdoor pool. With the chilly 8°C temperature outside, it was incredibly relaxing to soak in the warm water. However, the onsen lacked some basic amenities like lotion and a hairdryer, which meant I had to return to the room to dry my hair.
The Kaiseki dinner was the star of the experience. Each dish was meticulously crafted to highlight seasonal ingredients, and the progression of the courses was like a culinary journey. From the rich, umami-packed sea urchin to the tender Kobe beef and the delicate sashimi, every bite was a celebration of flavors and textures. The attention to detail in the presentation and the balance in each dish was remarkable. The dessert, a sweet Japanese green grape with melon soba ice cream, was the perfect light and refreshing end to the meal.
Although the onsen could have been better equipped, the dining experience more than made up for it. The craftsmanship and artistry of the Kaiseki menu were truly impressive, and I felt like I learned so much about traditional Japanese cuisine. After dinner, I returned to the onsen to make the most of this relaxing experience.
Overall, this stay was an ultimate indulgence, offering both relaxation and a deep appreciation for fine...
Read moreWhat a wholesome and authentic ryokan experience! Wonderful service, cozy tatami mat room surrounded by a tranquil garden. But the highlight was definitely the food. For dinner we had 5 courses of traditional Japanese food+suiyaki featuring matsusaka beef. Every bite was super flavorful and different from the next. You could tell everything was made with care. My husband and I savored every bite. And of course the onsens were awesome as well. We both left feeling super nourished and recharged. Would 100% recommend this ryokan if you’re looking for a personal experience in Japan.
Side note: if you book the private onsen, you’ll be taken there by car but it’s a quick short ride (less than 2 mins) and there is a small fee for it.
Also the staff members speak little English but they’ll use translation apps to communicate all of the information you need. It was not a problem...
Read moreA truly peaceful and relaxing stay. The baths are beautiful, there’s one indoor and one outdoor bath. The baths were very private my friend and I were almost always in there alone (so didn’t need to worry about having small tattoos). The food was delicious and the host was very kind and accommodating to my gluten allergy - she prepared all meals gluten free and even provided tamari instead of soy sauce. The amenities are definitely vintage but for a small and quaint ryokan this was perfect. Try to stay in the garden room it was very nice...
