Let me just say that we are Americans but well traveled. We know bad food and good food. I have been to Japan many times and I have never eaten food here that is worst than some places in the USA. I see Japanese reviews saying tourist don't know what good food is. I beg to differ, some tourists know how bad it can really get and how good it can be as well. Its crazy to me that people are giving this place 1 star. These people's reviews can't be trusted. It's either 5 or 1 stars for people who don't know how to review food and restaurants. We came on a rainy day so it was quiet. The elderly grandma let us in early to get out of the rain. She was very attentive and the food came out quick. We ordered udon. My wife ordered beef udon and I got the herring udon. Both were perfect for the weather. I would rather eat food made by a grandma than some chef with stars particular when traveling. Menu was confusing as each menu had a very different selection. I assume the lunch menus were still out but said woman was pressuring me to order quickly.
I think the restaurant had a no smoking sign but billowing clouds of cheap cigarette smoke were coming out of the kitchen frequently.
Ordered the tonkatsu. Either something was wrong with the batter or oil as the shell had clearly broken and it was a shriveled overcooked piece of pork covered in greasy sludge. And I don't know if the rice was mushy to begin with but...
