The staff is friendly, and we each got a complementary alcoholic beverage for staying here. The lounge area is quite large and is not lacking in chairs. There is usually someone working at the lounge bar in case you want to buy a drink.||||This hostel is next to a shopping acarde which itself is walking distance distance--3 to 10 min-- from the Minatogawa subway station and the Shinkaichi JR station. Among other things, the shopping arcade features a McDonald's, and several small Japanese, Chinese and even Thai food restaurants. At first we had difficulty finding the hostel, mostly because you have to turn onto a small side street when you near the end of the shopping arcade. ||||Though the hostel may show its age and not be as clean as you would hope, it's a great value for budget travelers nonetheless. Free lockers are available at the entrance (and in dorms) for those early for their check-in and that need to drop off their luggage. A free to use kitchen is also available. ||||My only real gripe with the Yume Nomad is the shower. The shower that we used was actually grimy. Moreover, the showerhead was connected to the sink next to it, which GREATLY reduces water pressure and your general ability to wash yourself. Hair dryers, shampoo and bodywash are provided by the hostel, however. This aside, the only issues we had were with other people staying in our dorm, which is by no means the hostel's fault.||||The hostel is a good value for any budget traveler who isn't a...

Read moreTerrible experience at Yume Nomad hostel. Despite being quite accustomed to guesthouses as I travel extensively in Japan for long periods, this was particularly disappointing. Firstly, cleanliness was severely lacking. The floors were dirty and sticky, and the toilets and showers emitted unpleasant odors. Additionally, the staff, mainly Western volunteers, lacked basic courtesy. They took my food from the fridge (with my name on it). When I addressed this issue with them, they say « sorry » and simply laughed it off. However, the most egregious offense was their behavior late at night. They stayed up until 4 am in the common area, which was directly adjacent to the guest rooms, talking loudly, laughing, be on phone and playing music. It felt as though they were right in my room, making it nearly impossible to sleep. Moreover, hygiene products were subpar, with the same soap used for both toilets and showers, emitting an unpleasant odor. Overall, this was the worst guesthouse experience of my life. I endured five nights of very little sleep. I sincerely hope that the owner addresses these issues with...
