Matsue Urban Hotel Cubic Room — Hotel in Matsue

Hotel is very close to the JR station, by the river and close to the Aeon Mall. Front desk was very nice, despite my broken Japanese. Guests staying in the capsules are given a locker to store their bags, secured by their access cards, and have a different compartment to store bigger suitcases using locks. In this locker, there is a bag containing really nice sleepwear, towels and a toothbrush kit. Bathrooms are inside the restricted area that includes the rooms, are quite clean and had showers and sinks fully furnished with amenities. The bed capsule itself was quite big and well-illuminated. The only downside was the ventilation being limited, probably due to the weather here being very hot, but rooms could certainly use a retrofit for better exhaust systems or AC outlets. An affordable hotel with dormitory floors close to the station. I had booked breakfast, which was Japanese style and it was great! I was really happy it was Japanese style breakfast, they had some variety every morning.

While I was staying here, I unfortunately got sick with a bad cold and had to extend my stay. However, the hotel sent someone from staff and they upgraded me to a private room for free! I was really thankful because I didn't have the money to upgrade. In the dormitory I felt so bad for the other guests, but now I could recover without worrying.

Good points: cheap price, nice staff, very clean rooms with lots of amenities to chose from, each capsule is well seperated from others and the ladders to second floor capsules are safe and comfortable to climb. Many dormitories and capsule hotels in Japan require you to make your bed by yourself, but this one does everything for you. Good all you can eat breakfast with very reasonable price. A great choice especially when there's few people staying other than you. Bad points: as this is a capsule hotel, there is always a chance that you get noisy neighbours.
