海のホテル一の滝 — Hotel in Nachikatsuura

What a wonderful hotel! The owners of hotel were incredibly kind and although we could hardly communicate, their goodwill and willingness to help was immense. The rooms are right on the beach, they are large and comfortable, and the first floor has an onsen. The rooms don't have showers due to the onsen, which worked for me! The onsen itself is lukewarm and due to the hot springs themselves, they have a strong sulfur smell (as do the toilets in the rooms). I would most certainly...

Very strange interaction. We went in to ask for a room for the night. The rather grumpy old man at reception said he had one available and named the price, which was reasonable. We asked if we could have a look at the room and he got angry and said no, he wouldn’t show us a photo either. He then insisted we leave, making a cross with his arms and repeatedly saying no, no, no in a very angry manner! Maybe just not a foreigner...

Supreme value for the area and the room and amenities and the VIEW. I learned this trip by staying at another inn that not all onsen are made equal!! The onsen here is constantly flowing (not recirculating) and it’s big. As an American I find the futon a little too thin, but that’s the nature of summer futon. They (along with most of the town) are CLOSED...
