This hotel was marketed as Natural, Organic, and Smart - a LOHAS like packaging. All in all they have spent efforts in minimizing wastages - including Front Office working hours - there are no staff off hours.
There was an open bar early evening, but unfortunately we were too busy outside shopping, would be quite pleasant if mingling was included.
Location: close to Fish market + Station, not close to Sakae (Happy Streets) and major departments stores. Downstairs are a few Izakayas, and closest one has the cheapest NamaBiru (Draught) seen in Japan ever. Great spot to wind down.
Parking: Right across has an okay parking area, fair priced for 12 hours and off hours. Nagoya has some steep parking prices, gotta shop around before choosing one. Around the corner would be cheaper, so you do have choices.
Public Bath: Comparatively a bit smaller, but makes sense. IMHO, good enough for a quick bath.
Amenities: They have a whole bunch of accessories for customers to choose from, various pillows, bath salts, and everyday personal hygiene items. Great setup for a younger market.
Room size: we could open flat two full size luggage for packing, which is already a win, if compared to other Japanese brands. Again, makes sense thus 'smart' in their own words.
Extra: Our room was fitted with a ceiling mounted projector, including the ceiling lighting, projecting to about 80-100 inch on the wall, and its internet-connected with apps, a great option as even new hotels don't have youtube-able TVs. We have YT+Netflix lifestyles so this really works...
Conclusion: Great for biz trip obviously, but surprisingly good for End-of-trip stay as it provides the space and sensible convenience and location. Dormy is not the only...
Read more10 minute walk from JR Nagoya station via the underground Unimall, which has shops and restaurants. Got the projection room and it was great to be watching Japanese TV on the wall. I loved the onsen, the water is slightly alkaline, and good selection of pillows at the reception. Pajamas also are available. Access to the room is by entering a number, this meant that I didn't have to worry about keycards. Friendly and helpful staff. There is only one lift which could be a long wait at times. Highly recommended.
If you come by Meitetsu, head to JR Nagoya underground then find the entrance to Unimall, near the exit to JR Nagoya Gate. Then use exit U10 and walk past...
