Murmur Biiru Stand — Restaurant in Nikko

Was a spur of the moment decision to stop at Murmur Biiru Stand and boy, was it one of my better ones, too! Great selection of craft beers.

I chose a small serving of wheat beer with a side of sausages and mustard and it was an awesome pairing! I now kinda wish I had either a larger beer, or tried a second one it was so good.

Also the owner, who spoke just a bit of English, made be feel right at home, as we both share a passion for the musical band Devo, as I asked him about his Energy Dome face mask on the owl, and he right way put on one of their albums and videos for background.

Stopped in for a drink after visiting the shrines and had fantastic beers! I got the pale ale and my dad got the coffee stout, and both were fantastic. The owner was very kind and efficient and we had a good time drinking them, watching the rain come down outside and watching whatever movie was on the TV.

It looks like there are some limited food offerings (a ham and cheese grilled sandwich and vanilla ice cream with warm coffee stout), and you can also bring your own food in to enjoy while...

Tucked away along the main Omotesando strip is one of only two microbreweries in Nikko. Here, the 1989 Soviet science fiction tragicomedy Kin-dza-dza (think Monty Python meets Barbarella) plays silently on a wide screen tv (good for you if you can read the Japanese subtitles) while you sip your beer of choice from five taps, one of which is a guest tap by another Japanese microbrewery.
