Cafe-Restaurant Takumi — Restaurant in Nikko

I reading all the other reviews for this place and I'm in awe that some people find this place negative. The food was absolutely amazing, especially the fillet steak. I've never written a review, but I've been to many many restaurants, yet this was probably the best food I've ever had. This is the only place to ever make me want to write a review for something. It was that good! Everything was at the perfect temperature, the perfect softness/thickness, everything was perfect. Also, the staff was very understanding and nice, while other reviews say they were rude. Maybe they didn't know anything besides Japanese or something (I spoke with them in Japanese, not English). Also, my family and I ordered quite a lot, yet all the food came within 20 minutes. Unfortunately, I do not have any photos of the food, but trust me, it's insanely good. Nice atmosphere but food needs a lot of improvement. We ordered set menus for 1620 yen each. The soup was lukewarm and the salad was half frozen. The hamburger steak (ground meat burger patty) came with vegetable that was half cold and my brocoli was even frozen. Too bad because the hamburger was in fact nicer.

The waitresses and waiters were not apologetic when we pointed out the undercooked food.

This restaurant was wonderful. The food was very good, of course, but the real attraction was the atmosphere — a pre-war building with the original Japanese/Western aesthetic fully intact was like a trip back in time. Even the windows had the original glass panes from the late 19th century. The staff were attentive and accommodating, making our dining experience enjoyable and pleasant.
