I was a little nervous after booking this hotel because I'd read reviews that had commented the hotel was particularly difficult to locate, was untidy/unclean and the staff didn't speak English at all ... well my experience was very different, the hotel is only 2 or 3 blocks from two different JR train stations as well as the metro and is only 1 station away from Osaka city so it's super convenient and central for sightseeing and eating out. We walked from Osaka station not realising initially there was another station closer but even still it only took us 20 odd minutes and it was easy to find (we had more trouble trying to navigate the train station inside of the massive mall!). While there was a language barrier (to be expected in a non-English speaking country), the staff made every effort to communicate as best they could with us in English as did we with them in our most basic, broken Japanese and it all worked out in the end. The hotel rooms are very small but fresh, clean and comfortable with all the amenities one might need. The complimentary bottles of water are a nice touch and there are two 24/7 convenience stores located within a block of the hotel in opposite directions which is really handy. Access to the hotel is via the lobby only so if you're not back at the hotel by midnight you're locked out until the lobby opens again at 7am! The onsite laundry is cheap ($1.10 AUD per wash load & $3.50 AUD per 90 min dryer cycle) especially if you're travelling with kids or running low on clean clothes :) ... a great place to stay if all you're looking for is a clean bed and bathroom close to the city with all the traditional charm of yesteryear, I would 100% recommend this hotel and would stay there again without...
Read moreI checked in on the night of 1st May with my wife and 2 young kids in tow. After going to the hotel room, I went down to the reception counter to request for 2 additional pillows and towels for my kids. The hotel staff delivered them to our room but was curt and unfriendly and gave us a lecture about not indicating we have 2 kids with us. It might have been our fault but the rude lecture was uncalled for. He could have explained to us in a professional way and told us to pay extra etc which we would have gladly obliged. But since it was our fault, we felt embarrassed and thanked the staff. The bad service continued the next morning. We checked out and asked the staff at reception to help us call for a taxi to train station. He stared at us and gave a curt "wait" and we stood there for almost 10 min and did not know what was happening as the staff was just fidgeting with his handphone and not even looking at us. When we went up to check with him the status, he showed us a translated message on his handphone which lectures us about not informing them the night before about the taxi booking. In the end we told him it's ok, we will take the train (we were rushing for time to catch the shinkansen). Again this lecture was totally uncalled for. We only decided on the taxi booking in the morning and if he's unable to book it, just say so instead of showing us a black face and lecturing us. |I won't expect excellent service since it's a 2 star hotel but all the black faces shown and the lectures left a bad taste in my mouth. The only saving grace is the room is clean for a...
