This is our 2nd time to stay in this property. It is great for that quick stopover in Osaka before moving on to other parts of the Kansai region. We love its location - just around the corner from Shin-Osaka (45 min on the Haruka train from the airport), go out of the East Exit (hint: take the elevator down to the street level, the lift is tucked away on the right at the top of the stairs) and turn left following the footpath, no need to cross any street, keep walking for a few minutes, keep left around the corner just after the stairs to the pedestrian overpass and voila you are there! The street is extremely peaceful despite the proximity to the train station. As part of a business hotel chain, the accommodation is standard Japanese: friendly and efficient staff, functional and comfortable petite rooms. Having travelled to Japan every year for several years now, we have come to expect it and are always pleasantly surprised when we note elements of new space in our rooms - this year it was having a corner room, which gave extra room for an alcove with an extra bench and a table, whee! There’s lots of hot water with reliable pressure in the well-appointed bathrooms plus kimono robes and slippers. Beds are typically firm and so are the pillows (we always have a laugh at the straw-filled pillows, yes, it is feels severe on your head the first time but somehow it feels so authentically Japanese! Plus when one is so tired from all the sightseeing, one could sleep on a brick really!). The free breakfast is very generous stocked and yes there are western options (we always love the chocolate croissants in Via Inn breakfasts). For its good value, functionality and location, this hotel works for us. Best of all is its proximity and view of the train tracks from our window. We just loved being lulled to our sleep by the sound of the shinkansen coming into the station. Oh that soft shooozh of the train is so soothing! Okay, we sound strange and this may not be everyone’s cup of tea but if you are a train-lover this is such a lovely experience. This year we had an eyelevel view of the tracks being on the 4th floor (ask for a higher one for a better view like we had last time) and to see the trains coming so close as it wooshes by...

Read moreVia Inn Shin-Osaka accommodation review 3 minutes walk from Shin-Osaka Station! Convenient hotel for business trips and travel
Via Inn Shin-Osaka is a hotel in a convenient location, just a 3-minute walk from the east exit of Shin-Osaka Station. Even if you come to Osaka from the region by Shinkansen, it is very convenient to access as you can just get off the station.
This time I stayed in a standard single room. You can take the necessary amenities with you at the front desk on the 1st floor, so you can take as many as you need. The room is equipped with a pot, tea cup, refrigerator, 3 hangers, deodorant spray, etc. to make your stay comfortable.
Breakfast can be eaten on the 1st floor for an additional 880 yen. We have a menu centered on Japanese and Western food, so you can be sure to replenish your nutrition from the morning.
There are convenience stores such as Family Mart near the hotel, and there are many restaurants within Shin-Osaka Station. However, many restaurants close around 10pm, so be careful when eating late at night.
Although there are no particularly noteworthy facilities, it has the minimum necessary items and is fully equipped with the functions necessary for a business trip or vacation.
Via Inn Shin-Osaka is a very convenient hotel if you want to get around from Shin-Osaka Station. It's close to the station, has everything you need, and allows you to spend a comfortable time.
