Nakamuraya Ryokan — Hotel in Sapporo

We went to Gunma without booking any hotel. We saw an information service that helped us find hotel nearby. She recommended this ryokan to us. But it is sad to say, we had unpleasant stay here. The room looks fine. It's old but clean and that's maybe the only good thing about this place and everything else was disappointing. ||||we checked in around 15:30 and they told us that they won't be able to serve us food as we checked in late. Which surprised me and my husband but we still considerated it. But then, we didn't know that we won't get breakfast too. Which I don't really understand and they charged us at the same price that should include food. We had to prepare for our futon. I dont know if that's the rules but I wasn't happy with that as well. And when we checked out, it was raining heavily, there were a lot of umbrella at the front and I thought that a staff would be kind enough to lend us umbrella as we had to walk to the parking area to get our car. And again, another disappointing moment. They didn't assist us nor lend us umbrella. ||||||Definitely not coming back here again. Not worth the...

I travel a lot in my job, and i don't have time to write hotel reviews. This place is so good that I make an exception to do it.||||They don't speak English very well, but understand very well. The staff do a lot of small things to make you feel comfortable. The onsen was on maintenance for a couple days during my stays, and they upgraded my room and provided free breakfasts.. Room are always well prepared and clean when I returned from meetings. The breakfast is extremely good and authentic Japanese. Note that this is a ryokan, so you will experience Japanese way of overstay. If you are expecting for western food, room, then go find a hotel. But if you are looking for real Japanese hospitality and experience, then this is the place you want to go.||||Great and comfortable room. Very good central but quiet location. Friendly staff.
