It’s has been a while that we feel so upset with a hotel. We love UDS hotel chain in Okinawa but it was a huge disappointment in Hokkaido. This is not a cheap hotel so it’s normal we expected more.
Instead, service or cleanliness it can’t even meet the standard of a cheap biz hotel like Super hotel….
We usually book hotel through official site these days but we found out OTA was much cheaper for this hotel, so we book from OTA. Due to our change of travelling plan, we booked 2 nts through 2 OTA. When we leave our luggage’s with hotel, we been told we booked two types of room. When we check-in, we been told we can stays in the same room if we like but need to tell them later the day.
When we decided to stays in the same room, 3rd person suddenly told us we needs to pay extra as the room we are staying was high floor twin. Money is not an issues, just ¥1200 but first two staff never mention it, is that normal for this hotel training?
In the room, room was sooooo tiny that don’t know where to put our 3 suitcase. (We have 3 person). We usually combine out beds for our kids and we found out the floor was sooooo dirty! A used tissues, full of hairs on tatami….. Gross! We put the bed back right way in original location.
The soap dispenser was so dirty, no one bother to clean it when refill. It’s worst then a public washroom in JR.
We show hotel staff the hairy photo when we pay our ¥1200, their reply was: YOU ARE NOT SUPPOSE TO MOVE THE BED. Oops… sorry, my fault.
I always moved it back to original place and never encounter such nasty dirt. Not to mention REAL ONSEN HOTEL will kindly combine the bed for you upon your request, even it’s bed, not futon.
Now we are thinking,… we don’t need slippers in room but is the tatami clean? We should use our own in room sleepers.
We paid for extra bed as we have 3 person. Can you imagine a hotel price like this we have to set our own bed? They just provide futon (jap mattress) and Bad sheet….am i on Bnb?
Curtains leaks light a big time.
Onsen looks nice but only LOOk, the cold water Pond was above the onsen when we were in the onsen, ppl suddenly moved around. When ppl soak in the cold water pond, water will overflow in onsen and disturbed other guest. It’s a design fault for this onsen
Onsen changing space was very small, it was pretty crowed even on mid Oct (weekend, not long weekend.) high season could get worst.
Lastly, hotel is far from shopping area, during snows season, it will be heck of walk.
From hotel staff reply, I guess we aren’t suppose to move the bed, not suppose to look at the soap dispenser, not suppose to sit near the Bit Stone bath near the onsen.
We were disappointed about UDS outside Okinawa…. Hardware was really nice but unable to keep it up, What a shame :(
We aren’t looking for any compensation otherwise we would show them the photo before we pay the ¥1200.
We have run into some hotel like this before, solving it was easy, sincerely apologize to customers. promise to improve (they wouldn’t know:…), it cost hotel nothing but will sure make the customer relief and feel respected. Not blame on customers.
One last thing, one thing that consistent though UDS hotel chain, this wifi connection is a joke. Slow or simply no...
Read moreWe stayed in nine hotels during our six week Winter visit to Japan; this hotel was the third most stylish but the second most uncomfortable.||||The corner double room has the right look with a little tea room next to a floor to ceiling window. We had a partial view of the Botanical Gardens which was pretty.||||The room was uncomfortable for the following reasons:||1. No storage. The room fit out is super minimal but if you have luggage there's nowhere to put it and no hanging space.||2. The designer was going for a zen low lighting experience but the room was so dark we couldn't see anything. There is one dim lamp next to the bed and another low light overhead light. It was so dark we had to borrow desk lamps to be able to see into our suitcases. Maybe the designer was trying to create a moody atmosphere but we found it dreary and depressing.||3. The thermostat has no fine controls - the room was either way too hot or very cold. We chose to turn the heat off and borrow extra blankets and wear extra layers.||||We chose the corner double room which despite being one of the larger rooms, felt too cramped for a four day stay.||||The onsen was stylish and cool. The outdoor onsen was set in cute snowscape. Having an onsen with snow around you felt very luxe. ||||Unfortunately this hotel attracts a certain young, nouveau riche clientele who take selfies endlessly in this Instagram ready hotel. There were men taking photos of themselves in the onsen on two occasions; I felt like my privacy had been violated as I was in the same bath. It upset me they didn't respect me enough to abstain from taking video footage. Did they do that just because my partner and I were clearly not Japanese?||||We enjoyed the authentic breakfast, although I feel like having it once probably would have been enough. ||||The location of the hotel was a bit of a dead zone, unless you love walking there are probably more central locations.||||If you can't speak Japanese the staff are just OK. I was overcharged and managed to get a refund even despite the language barrier.||||I would not stay at this hotel again but I did enjoy certain...
