I hope you see this and DO NOT book it. For a little bit more you can get way better and in the center. The only thing good is the private hot spring, and still, everytime too full. This is not a hotel, it works as a guest house, and a bad one. It’s not japonese, it’s not a ryokan. We stayed in a downstairs room, there was A LOT of noise every time, and a LOT of light in the room: so no good sound isolation, and no black out. The staff is never there, we tried to contact through the phone to change room, and they said to talk to the kitchen helpers. They did not help, not change the room, not arranged a black out solution. A lot of “sorry” but no solution. The breakfast tries to be continental, but is not good. The ingredients, and the way they are done, are not good. Why not japonese, since we are in Japan ? So the staff is not helpful and not nice, when they are there. We needed an early breakfast (6am30), not possible, not even that we made our own toast. We asked for a restaurant reservation, they did not did it. They are not worried if we have or not a good stay, and me and my husband were in our honeymoon, and they knew that! Finally, the location is not that good, and the street is not nice. Me and my husband did not enjoyed this stay, at all, and the price for it is...
Read moreHorrible hotel. Cold and indifferent reception. Nothing like what is presented. It is a hostel pretending to be a ryokan. It's not a ryokan and not a hotel. The reception staff are not local and they were cold, unhelpful, indifferent, and did not provide what we needed. We were not told when we arrived that there was no cleaning service unless a card was left on the room door. So after a long day out, we came back in the afternoon and found our room was not cleaned nor towels replaced. The staff coldly told me I should have put a card on the door and walked off to attend to her check in guests. How am I supposed to know that when no one told us about it? No apology whatsoever. It is such a bad experience overall we are going to check out a day earlier. it's unbelievable. Our room window opens out into a passage way and we have people looking into our fishbowl of a room. We have travelled a lot in Japan over the years and this has been one horrendous experience. If you want a room over your head, this place is fine but for the price we paid, this was very disappointing and shocking. We have never felt so incensed by a hotel. But then again this was not a hotel. Don't believe...
Read moreFake “Japanese” style guesthouse not hotel. The website is deceiving. The name says modern. It is not. The website states it’s a Ryokan. It is not. In fact it’s a rather cheap, mediocre and overpriced guesthouse. Reception works part time with non-Japanese staff who seem very disinterested. The room we stayed in is substandard. With one side like a fish ball facing the yard where every other guests goes by and look inside and the second facing a wall. Tiny shower combined with toilet. Very non-Japanese. Japanese breakfast picture shown on website doesn’t exist. After one night, our room was not made up and when we complained we were told we had to put a card on the door. A card was not supplied nor mentioned upon check-in. No apology. We felt like we are an annoyance. The reception staff is not sensitive and quite cold, functional and robotic. We definitely overpaid as I would consider this a 2* guesthouse or hostel at best. Good for backpackers who can afford the exorbitant price but don’t mind the low quality. The only star was the coffee machine....
