Honestly one of the best capsule hotels I’ve stayed at. I was in the women’s floor only. The blanket is so soft and comfy! It was honestly hard to get up cause I wanted to sleep in lol. Plus they have a small fan in the capsule so it’s nice and a good temperature! They also have a locker that can fit a small luggage (carry on size) with a physical key and then inside your capsule you have another small locker with a pin lock. The bathroom and toilet were clean! And you get three diff size towels for free. I stayed for two nights october 28th- 30th
Reason why 4 stars only: I was chilling at the 1F around midnight october 30th A guy enters to check in but no one was at the reception. He asked me for help so we tried calling booktea twice but no answer We rang the receptionist bell multiple times no one came We waited for another 10-15mins cause maybe the person in charge went to the toilet but still no one came. We were left with no choice but to knock at the “staff room” and still no one answered— so we opened the door and to our surprise the staff was sleeping.
I woke her up since I knew some Japanese and explained but she seemed annoyed and didn’t even apologise to me nor the guest who has been waiting to be checked in for almost an hour. I know and understand that the said staff might be very tired but a simple apology should have been given especially to the guest waiting.
It’s sad to have this experience because the hotel itself is really amazing and whoever is managing their Agoda page also responds quickly and was very helpful. I hope to choose this hotel again in the future but please make sure the Night Shift staff are attentive for any late check ins or if they need a break, to put a sign that says “will be back...
Read moreI stayed in BookTeaBed for one night on the 12th of October 2024, as a part of my larger trip traveling around Japan. I wanted to make sure to stay at least one night in a capsule hotel during the trip, to have that experience.
I wasn't completely sure what to expect, but BookTeaBed was great. I had some trepidation about shared showers or bathrooms, but both were lockable cubicles that gave you total privacy.
The beds themselves were snug and comfortable. You had a locker in the hall by your bed for a bag, which was suitable for a backpack or carry-on-size suitcase (not a check-in size suitcase), and a small lockable cubby inside your bed pod for personal valuables.
If you're traveling light enough that you can stow your belongings, I would say you'd get a lot out of the flexibility and affordability of a capsule hotel like this.
BookTeaBed's selling point about books (it's in the name) is that there's a selection of books to read arranged on shelves across from each wall of beds. There was a lot of manga to choose from, much of it in Japanese (I'm early on learning the language, so I tried to...
Read moreCould not imagine a better hostel to stay for my trip to Tokyo! It is in the perfect area in Shibuya for the perfect price. It is very close to shopping, great restaurants, and the metro station. The rooms are squeaky clean and the bathroom is spacious and is empty for most of the day (except for the early morning when people are getting ready to leave). There is plenty of space to store your suitcase or bags in locked cabinets and if you have a larger bag it is perfectly safe to leave it out. I am very grateful that I had the option to stay on a women’s only floor since I was solo traveling and was a bit nervous - I felt safe the entire time I was there! My only complaints would be the capsules get very warm and I wish the fan was more powerful as I prefer to sleep when it is cold. People would open the windows during the day / night to help with the heat which helped. I also was unable to get hot water to work in the showers so it was very very cold. If I get lucky enough to come back to Tokyo - I will definitely stay here...
