We went there on Saturday afternoon on 1st September 2018. It was our first and last visit. I really liked the bottled Mikkeller beer I’d bought online so I was looking forward to visiting this place. The first issue was the excessively loud music, which was also limited in its appeal; I’m fairly sure few customers there liked contemporary American R&B and another genre that I was unfamiliar with but no doubt niche.
The styling was rather unique and pleasantly quirky downstairs but upstairs, including the stairs themselves, it seemed like they’d run out of ideas and money; an unfinished project, perhaps.
The staff were moody and certainly not welcoming. The barmaid that served us was miserable.
However, the main purpose was the beer, which was good but questionable in that my partner ordered a weizen that tasted like an IPA; it was definitely served from the correct tap so not sure what happened there.
My porter was good but I’d question the claimed “pint” size glass. This is a common issue in Japan with no apparent rules on drink measures so I recommend asking to see the glass before placing your order. That said, I felt the beer was overpriced, especially as competition in the craft beer pub sector is rife these days in Tokyo so we can get much better...
Read moreCame here to have good time with my husband Didnt know that you have to get at least one drink per one person and i couldnt drink alcohol so i ordered an soft drink( sections not that much only coke, ginger ale and apple juice) so i picked apple juice. It was good but a small glass for 700yen. The door all open so the ac is not turn on. Bravo for the point protect the environment but its super hot summer in Japan and inside has more than 10 people in a space of 17meters . Can tell people sweating , but just wanted to enjoy some beers here, then a bunch of another customers came in 3 man 2 woman, super loud obnoxious and the other people start feeling annoy and get out the brewery. A losing point since the brewery where people enjoy their time and beers with friend not an izakaya and the employees didnt do anything to stop it so we had to walk out. P/s: thank you for the message back to me but the upstair at that moment we walked in was all full seat and we are 3 huge giants and i dont really think your upstair will...
Read moreBeing a big fan of Mikkeller who has visited several branches, including in Denmark and elsewhere in Asia, I was very much looking forward to checking out Mikkeller in Tokyo. Obviously style wise the place doesn't deviate too much from the standard you can expect from Mikkeller, and the ambiance was pretty nice too, with a good - although not quite as good as I've seen at other branches - variety of beers available, and one Riesling on tap. Unfortunately I just didn't feel quite as comfortable here as at other spots, as there was a bit of a "local" vibe to the place and I was effectively forced to vacate my spot on a bench next to the window after the oft-mentioned in reviews slightly-grey-bearded barman encroached on where I was sitting to have a drink with two of his friends. Mikkeller is always a nice spot to visit around the world and this one is worth dropping into for a pint, or a half, if you're...
