We were here in March 2023. I had the most touching and closest experience in this “ryokan” The people in the front desk, they didn’t speak English but they were so kind and tried their best with translation to communicate. Overall the room was clean and it was also big enough. It was very cute because I was able to say: “Ittekimasu” and the front desk people which where a woman and man of a third age, they replied: “Itterasshai” The same when I came back, I said: “tadaima” and they smily replied: “okaeri” The place it’s literally 5 mins from Shibuya station in bus, and 15-20 min walking. There’s a family mart close to it. You can catch every bus from there is definitely well located but it’s also in a neighborhood where you can feel like in a anime story haha because it’s like the norm japanese houses and you were able to see the Sakura trees. This place was definitely perfect, I wish I was able to stay longer ♥️ PS: I read comments here that it was annoying to take off your shoes, please, if you come to a country like Japan, where their culture and traditions are so rooted, and you don’t want to adapt, better don’t come at all. You can’t come to their business or house and tell them how to run it lol Besides, everywhere in Japan unless it’s a public space you must take off your shoes, sometimes even in some restaurants. It’s part of who they are. They won’t change their whole identity because of some tourist, if you’re annoyed by taking off your shoes, maybe read ahead of the countries traditions and everyday activities before you visit it.
At last, this place was amazing, service, location, hygiene, you’re able to arrive late at night as well. If you want a place to sleep comfortably and also experience some local shibuya, this is the...
Read moreI had to write an exam in Tokyo at Temple University (Japan campus). I specifically looked for a hotel that was conveniently located for me to take the exam early in the morning. I picked Hotel Fukudaya for the convenience but was wow'd overall.||||The people working at the reception were all very friendly. I speak Japanese so check-in was pretty smooth but I saw a lot of other foreigners and they could generally communicate in English with them. ||||My room was quite small with tatami floor. I had a large window and my own private access to a toilet. Didn't have a shower in my room, but had access to a bath (you lock it so you have sole access for that period of time). It was pretty cold in Tokyo at that time but the air conditioner heated the (small) room just fine. ||||There are no elevators but they will help you with your luggage if you are staying on the upper floor.||||They held onto my luggage after I checked out and I came back for it later. I only had them hold onto it for a few hours, but I believe they can hold onto it for even a few days.||||Can't imagine having to stay here again since it's not the most convenient for tourists and I won't be needing to take the exam again. You have to walk quite a distance from the nearest JR station (uphill too). But it was a very...
