Too many great things to say about Mimaru Kinshicho to make this a short review but a very well deserved max rating from us as a travelling family of 5 from the UK.
We booked the Theatre double bunk family room for a week.
Firstly LOCATION, Excellent location situated less than 10 mins walk to Kinshicho station which has great transport links to Tokyo Station (3 stops on the Sobu Rapid) and Akhihabara/Shinjuku Stations on the Chuo Sobu, both of which more importantly are on JR lines and hence are JR Pass friendly, no need for an extra ticket if you already have a JR Pass! Kinshicho location itself is already a bustling area surrounded by large department stores, entertainment and food places so in terms of local ammenities, Kinshicho is abundant.
Now onto the ApartHotel itself..
STAFF & SERVICE An array of multi lingual/multi cultural staff as well as being able to speak other foreigh languages all spoke perfect English so for the travelling foreigner, it was so refreshing to be able to communicate easily. Extremely polite staff all young and enthusiastic serving with a smile. They also offer to receive delivered luggages so when we sent out luggages from Osaka during our first leg of the Japan trip, not only were Mimaru happy to receive it, they also delivered the luggages straight to our room on arrival so our luggages was in the room ready and waiting for us. Little touches that we really appreciated.
ROOM The best part - Modern, clean and fresh but most importantly for a city like Tokyo, the apartment was extremely large and spacious. Hotel rooms in Tokyo have always been tiny and cramped so our mindset always expected that so when upon entering this room, it exceeded our expectations. Had nice perks such as projection screen with smart TV capabilities such as Youtube, Netflix, phone screen mirrorring. A double sink area with a wetroom and large bath tub. An extra bedroom with 2 single beds (to quarantine the loud snorer like me) as well as the double bunk bed in the main studio room that easily sleeps 4. A large seating area and table that will comfortable seat six large adults. Very satisfied with the room choice and the best we've stayed in during all our previous stays in Japan.
NEGATIVES/CONSTRUCTIVE FEEDBACK I only have one very minor gripe. It is great that this place offers a large list of free-to-loan essential items (Like rice cooker, toaster, adapters etc) but I feel it is missing and could benefit from a fair usage policy on the items or at least on more popular items such as the iron and ironing board. When customers loan items, it is entirely up to them as and when they decide to return the items. This is why we waited for over 2 days for an iron and ironing board to become available. I feel the ApartHotel staff can reserve the right to retrieve loan items daily during housekeeping and if people requires the items, they can request it again from reception.
CONCLUSION Third visit to Japan and have to say ApartHotels are the way to go in Tokyo now due to the spacious rooms that cater for large families. I just cannot see myself staying at a traditional hotel anymore in Tokyo and I would easily come back to Mimaru again. Well...

If you’re considering staying at this hotel—stop searching. This is the place.
Our journey started off rocky. Our flight was delayed in San Francisco for three hours due to heavy rain and wind, so we didn’t arrive in Tokyo until 8:30 PM instead of the planned 5:00 PM. My wife had already booked a hotel in Osaka for the first two nights, and our plan was to take the Shinkansen straight from Tokyo to Kyoto or Osaka upon landing.
Unfortunately, by the time we reached Shinagawa Station, we found out the last Shinkansen had already departed at 8:00 PM. It was now around 9:30 PM, and we were stranded in Japan—with our child—scrambling to find a place to stay for the night.
We searched around Shinagawa Station but couldn’t find any available hotels nearby. In the end, we took an expensive taxi ride to Mimaru, where my wife had already booked a later reservation for our Tokyo stay.
We arrived at the hotel close to midnight. The lobby was closed, but we rang the bell and were greeted by security, who let us in after we explained the situation. We informed them that we had a reservation later in the week but couldn’t make it to Kyoto that night due to the missed train.
The Uncle reached out to the hotel manager, and they kindly worked with us to add two extra nights to our existing reservation. The whole process was smooth, and the manager really went out of his way to help us. I made sure to personally thank him with a handshake. The hospitality and professionalism were beyond expectations and truly made our trip to Japan more enjoyable.
This hotel became a core memory for our trip—and one we’ll never forget.
Additional Notes: • No need to bring laundry soap—the laundry room is fully stocked and easy to use. • Everything from the staff to the amenities was top-notch.
Staff: Outstanding Cleanliness: Immaculate Laundry Room: Convenient and well-equipped Souvenirs/Trinkets: Fun and thoughtful touches throughout the stay
Final Thought: Mentally, I’m still in Japan. Physically, I’m back in the U.S. But this hotel will always be on my list for the next visit. And to my man from Ireland I will be sure to Visit Matsuyama the next...
Read moreStayed here for about 10 days! This is our first trip to Japan with our 7 year old daughter. Excellent location to Kinshicho station roughly 5 minute walk. Lawson and Family mart in every corner for a quick run! Close to restaurants, shopping mall and grocery stores! The customer service here went above and beyond when we failed to get to our hotel in Kyoto it was midnight when we got there. The security at night I didn’t get his name, we explained we missed our train and couldn’t book a hotel nearby at the time. He immediately call the manager who surprisingly answered mind you it was midnight?! I am glad they have a translator device to communicate with the security. I spoke with the manager who speaks good English and explained our situation. Mr. Security took us to our room and we fell in love ! Better in person! Cute apartment style hotel. Perfect for family nice and roomy ! Separate toilet and bathroom . I love the kitchenette with complete cooking needs . Front desk speaks English as well they’re from all over the world who fell in love with Japanese culture ! Oh I almost forgot they have discounted luggage service called Kurogo that takes your luggage from their hotel to the airport then vice versa! Very convenient and fast process. They have weight scale too. Laundry service was right at the lobby omg you do not need laundry detergent the machine is built with one . We can’t stop thinking about this hotel. We would recommend them to family and friends. We would love to come back again!! Thank you for your excellent humbling service...
