Dec-22. Relatively new and well kept hotel. We booked a Japanese family room for four. The room was clean and large given the downtown location. It had two twin beds and a tatami area that was large enough to setup another two futon beds - you do this yourself, some lifting required to move the low table and cushions but is easy enough. The room was also large enough for a dining table and a small kitchenette. Basic cutlery is provided and you could borrow additional items such as toasters from the front desk. Similar to other hotels, basic amenities are provided in the room, additional items such as slippers, tea and coffee are available at the front desk. Room cleaning is once every four days but the staff will clear your trash and provide a fresh set of towels daily. Vending machines and coin laundry is available. Front desk is helpful, with a few staff fluent in English.
Location wise, the hotel is about 15min walk from Shinjuku JR Station. It is near enough but far from a stones throw away. Easiest access to the hotel is via the surface walkway. The hotel can also be reached via underground with the closest exit O-2 about 50m from the hotel. When coming from Shinjuku Station, look for signs towards the Tokyo metropolitan office. But take note that the underground is not luggage friendly with a number of stairs.
For the location, the pricing is very attractive for rooms of this size. Hotel is clean and pleasant. Overall, a good choice...
Read moreStayed 3 nights in the 4th week of April. Others have said good things about the room in their reviews, which I agree with. Wanted to note how helpful and courteous the staff was, and I feel it must be the Mimaru chain's philosophy and the commitment by the staff to adhere to it, which I absolutely commend. It's a different feel of hospitality from what you get at super luxury hotels that some times can be hit-and-miss. At the Mimaru in Shinjuku West, service by the staff was comfortable and personal and they made us feel really welcome. Too bad I can't make out the young man's name on the Thank you card he gave us at checkout, because I wanted to call him out for being extra helpful, from the time we checked in until we left. So thank you to him and to all the staff. As for the location, it's a good walk from the Shinjuku station, which itself is an absolute maze - and a mess, a trap. After four days this time and four days a couple of years ago, I still can't find my way around and that added to the exhaustion when we tried to make our way back. Plus, I'm not sure there's much in what the area has to offer that's right for families even with older kids. This isn't really a surprise, given what Shinjuku is well known for - offices and night life, plus its popularity with tourists looking for a quick way to experience Japan. So, if we're visiting Tokyo again, I'm quite sure we won't stay in Shinjuku. But we're quite sure we'll stay at a...
Read moreSometimes you run into a hotel so good you decide you can make all your visits in this country in the same chain going forward. This was such experience. Whether it was booking, pre-service before arrival, or the stay itself. Everything was perfection.
The room was also perfection, it was beautiful and clean and tidy. For Tokyo it’s a gigantic room as well which was perfect for families. The bunk bed in particular satisfies those kids who still adventures with their mind giving it like a secret base type vibe.
The hotel is situated in quite central Shinjuku, not exactly closes to transport but that said transport is also only a 10 min walk away.
Amenities provided were also beautiful and of good quality and you may consume as you need and take from lobby self served.
The room comes with a dining area, cooking area, and a microwave. Given it’s right next to 7eleven it is also perfect for those random nights where you need a snack.
Riri was super helpful along the entire journey as well. Professional and gorgeous, and was very attentive to detail as well, to which we commend.
The hotel also has luggage service that can help store luggage when needed. Separately also has bathroom facilities and vending machine on ground floor for those who need.
You may also borrow umbrella from the reception for those Rainey days just in case you forgot to BYO~
Hotel also has laundry service to those who need with a whole floor or coin based...
